WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has ended its six-year criminal probe of the ties between former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and disgraced ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff without filing any criminal charges against the former congressman.

One of DeLay's lawyers, Richard Cullen, said Monday the Justice Department's Office of Public Integrity informed DeLay's legal team early last week that it was ending the investigation.

"Six years is a long time and I'm sure he wishes it had happened years ago," Cullen said of the conclusion of the investigation. Cullen added that "for me, the result trumps the timing."

Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney declined to comment, which is normally the case when the department ends a criminal probe without filing charges.

Bottom line: Tom DeLay was driven from Washington by false allegations of a dirty DemocRAT prosecutor.

And the Democrats cheer.

Democrats are cheering now, but I wonder if they’ll cheer when Republicans rout Nasty Pelosi out of her position.

TYPICAL Lawyer......he really didn’t CARE that it took 6 YEARS because HE WAS GETTING PAID FOR 6 YEARS!!! If had been any good, it would have been over 5 1/2 YEARS AGO!

Okay, where does DeLay go to get back the last six years?

I am sorry, but when (not if) the Federal Bureaucracy makes a mistake of this kind, SIX YEARS with no charges, it needs to pay for that level of stupidity. The top three people in that (one for every two years of failed investigation)office need to be fired and that department's office space needs to be reduced by 30 percent (that's 5 per cent per year of failed investigation).

Without penalties to the bureaucracies we will see more of this not less.

BTW it is “FUNNY” that these long duration federally sponsored inquiries seem to affect on conservative republicans.

Yep, same thing happened with JD Hayworth. He lost his seat in congress because of very loud accusations, and then almost silently the charges were dismissed AFTER the election.

BTW, scumbag McCain is still trying to hang that on JD.

And, maybe Nance, Reid, and a mess of others in this Congress get fitted for ankle bracelets.

Congressman Doolittle lost his seat due to loud allegations as well, regarding Abramoff. The charges were recently dropped. At least Tom McClintock is now in Doolittle’s seat.

McClintock is a good man, we got stuck with Harry Mitchell, a democrat.

Didn’t Ted Stevens also depart under allegations later proven not to be true?

What’s the penalty for bearing false witness? I don’t mean on earth or in the court of public opinion.

This is just the Fed investigation. The Texas investigation is still ongoing for state violations......

From another article:

A state case continues in Texas, with a hearing scheduled for Aug. 24. A trial is expected next spring, and could last several weeks.

Democrats must be crushed that they didn’t get a criminal inditment. This shows how corrupt tehy are. They’re willing to destroy a person like DeLay and abuse the system just to advance their narrow, hateful political agenda.

It wouldn’t matter, the people who did this don’t really believe in a hereafter. Add JD Hayworth to the list of people who lost office because of these inuendos and “investigations”. JD was miraculously cleared right after Harry Mitchell (D) was elected to JD’s old seat.

I’m shocked! Shocked i tell ya. Ronnie Earle acolytes should be able to shop around for another grand jury in Austin to keep this going another decade. Tom DeLay might still be breathing.

This sort of personal political plundering on the part of the Left is typical of their pathetic partisan perspective of the end being justified by the means.

They have nothing but visions, emotions, doctored with Bullshit for issues. IOW nothing of significance relative to Constitutional government to take a stand upon.

They are Communists. They can’t understand self government. It’s beyond their capability to do so. They are an impaired lot that should be returned to their padded cells whenever they escape to a television camera, and a microphone to spew their lies.

...and the repubs insist on making nice with the sharks on a feeding frenzy? Sounds crazy.

Good intentions, and being nice was what their mothers taught, but the handwriting is on the wall to quote the good book, and being nice now belongs in some other place than the killing field of the US Capitol. Just one example would be the recent try by certain congressional snakes, to defame the tea party, by using the race card, as they slithered through the peaceful crowd crowing about their Obama care with forked tongues.

Didn’t Ronnie retire?

I doubt anything will come from this now.
