The left is unpopular, undisciplined and ill-tempered
Weekly Standard ^ | 8/16/10 | William Kristol

Posted on 08/16/2010 8:17:45 AM PDT by Nachum

The left has collapsed.

Its political support has collapsed. Public opinion polls point to a historic repudiation of the president and the Democratic party this fall, something on the order of a 60-seat Republican gain in the House. The GOP has an outside shot at taking the Senate as well.

Its claim to intellectual integrity has collapsed. Paul Krugman, Ivy League professor, New York Times columnist and Nobel laureate (the holy trinity of the liberal establishment), has humiliated himself with a startlingly dishonest attack on Paul Ryan's budget proposal. Krugman, called out by Ryan, rebuked by honest analysts and unwilling to concede his errors, has retreated into uncharacteristic abashed silence.

Its Leninist discipline has collapsed. Last week, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs complained about the craziness of the professional left in the punditocracy. "Those people ought to be drug tested," Gibbs explained. "They will be satisfied when we have Canadian health care and we've eliminated the Pentagon. That's not reality. ... They wouldn't be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president."

Members of the professional left hit back at Gibbs, dubbing the Obama White House the "amateur left."

Don’t you think that they’re being systematically disarmed of their favorite weapons

Yes.

Seems like they’re losing ground.

Yes, they are currently ceding ground.

We’ve had it so good for so long that some of us have become complacent. To quote Carrie Underwood’s current hit, “I wanna undo it!”

Absolutely. I agree with everything you've said but every contest of every kind has periods of advance followed by periods of retreat by both sides.

My goal is to help ROUT these idiots out of our govt as completely as possible in a very few years. I believe it's possible but requires... you said it... Constant Vigilance and steady work on all fronts.

Kristol does OUR side a potentially grave disservice with his remarks. (Which raises even more suspicions in my mind as to why this Beltway insider would do so.) The danger is that folks on our side will relax and not keep up the pressure on these idiot progressives.

The less motivated might even stay home on election day. Yes, the left MAY be collapsing: Given that the left operates on “feelings” and “emotion,” it’s what happens to them when confronted by reason and logic.

BUT NEVER FORGET THAT EVEN A DYING RATTLESNAKE CAN STILL KILL YOU!

You are absolutely right. People saying the left is vanquished do not realize they are like roaches when you spray insecticide. They scurry out of sight. Spray, go to bed, get up around 3AM and turn on the lights--there they are, scurrying everywhere.

We have to spray, put out bait, go next door and spray and keep doing that every little bit.Even--ugh! squash all those you can step on.

I’m thinking of a nest of fire ants behind a tent with half a sandwich in it. Everything’s fine ‘till 3:30 in the morning when your sleeping bag is filled with them. The federal government is like a huge network of anthills, all connected to each other, completely infiltrating the landscape. Congress is just one of them. And obama... he’s merely a happy camper. Eradicating that many ants is a lot more work than Kristol is willing to let on. Overconfidence is dangerous.

This is an incredible video. I’ve just sent the link out to everyone on my list.

This is supposed to be happy, pro-Palestinian propaganda! That says it all.

Also, I think it needs to be pointed out that we American taxpayers are continually funding these Palestinian leaders, directly and through the UN. Where did they get all that money to buy those little girls?

From us!

Obama recently sent them a big present, as I recall.

Some folks in broadcasting are all too willing to give libs and dems the benefit of the doubt when they should not give them the benefit of anything.

Broadcasters like Bill O’Reilly who try to bend over backwards to be fair actually does a disservice when these people are so obviously communists and he does not call them out on it.

Swearing is the latest trend in the arts — shock value and vulgarity are fashionable to the Democrats — basically, the personality of an unflushed toilet.

Everything - and I mean everything except the islamic angle - I learned about FROM MARXISTS in the late 80s and early 90s. This includes:

Marxism/Socialism/Communism
Alinsky.
Death of Religion in the US.
Non-leftists are racists.
Global Warming.
Existence of Groups like ACORN.
Etc.

For this reason I tell people to watch Glenn Beck because I KNOW that what he is saying is the truth and I KNOW how hard it is to convince good, decent people that the marxists truly want to destroy America. Glenn gets it according to my personal experience in Los Angeles (where 0bama got his start in college according to his books.)

They’d kill us if they could but they have adopted this method for now because of the Genius of our Constitution.

We need to fight them politically keeping this fact - that they’d kill us if they could - in mind.

See my tagline.

...and yet their candidates will *still* receive an average of 45% of the popular vote.

That should be enough to keep us all awake at night.

This is so very true.

There is a huge difference between "Fair and Balanced" and "objective analysis." BOR is too fair and balanced for his own good. He loses credibility when he is so obviously out of sync with what is objectively visible in terms of 0bama's behavior, etc.

BOR tries too hard to have it both ways so he can keep the ratings "fair and balanced" in his favor. He's good at it but it doesn't always help the Republic. Far from it.

"The Progressive Fascists"

You nailed it! (Obviously you've been studying your ideologies and history.) The fascist era started in 1915 in Italy (and did not become a dictatorship until 20's).The collectivist ideology was embraced by FDR, and American fascism continues, stronger than ever, under the leadership of Barrack Obama. All that is missing for a dictatorship is, "a paramilitary force which would rival the national army." BTW - thats not a quote from the video of Barrack Obama, it is quote from Bosworth;'s "Mussolini's Italy", describing the fascist announcement (Jan 1923) of the intention to found a volunteer militia force for national security.[maybe Obama studied the document and simply recalled the words]

The economic failure of fascism has been obscured/hidden by going into debt. Now that the debt limit has been reached, it is about time to eliminate the fascist ideology from American life.

Don’t bet on it.

The Left is well financed, through George Soros and co., and through kickbacks from organizations that received the billions (trillions?) of dollars distributed in the “bailouts,” aka the Sack of the United States.
The Left still has the mainstream media beating its drum for them 24/7, and doing its best to suppress all conflicting news and opinions.
The Left is perfectly willing to pursue voter fraud, if its constituencies’ enthusiasm comes up short. This includes an attempt to buy the Secretary of State offices of the several states, to ensure a compliant oversight authority.

It ain’t over until the votes are counted and the lawsuits settled. Keep hammering them until the bell sounds...
