WASHINGTON—A lawyer for Tom DeLay said Monday that the Justice Department has ended an investigation of the former congressman and won't file criminal charges.

One of Mr. DeLay's lawyers, Richard Cullen, said the Justice Department's Office of Public Integrity informed Mr. DeLay's legal team early last week that it was ending the investigation.

Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney declined to comment, which is normally the case when the department ends a criminal probe without filing charges.

Ending the investigation, but not saying that they’ll never re-open it.

So is the No-Justice Department going to compensate Tom Delay for his legal bills?

Not even a libtard controlled DOJ had the cajones to prosecute such politically driven trumped up charges. The idiot in Texas that brought this whole thing into motion should pay a dear political price.

I wonder if Delay might sue for libel and defamation.

Dancing with the Stars is a much funner gig for old Tom than having to put up with those morons and bufoons occupying the Dem side of the congressional aisle.

“The idiot in Texas that brought this whole thing into motion should pay a dear political price.”

You would be referring to Ronnie Earle, DA of Travis County (Austin). The environmental capital of the western hemisphere voters are not gonna throw his derriere out.

If the current Justice Department had anything, they would have filed. They kept it open so long in hopes that something/somebody would come forward with something they could file on. But nothing ever came so they got zilch except for successfully intimidating the greatest whip the GOP ever had, a rare ‘smart’ Republican.

I had hoped years ago that Tom would stay in office while he dispensed with all these false and unfounded allegations, but now I see that he had to step out. While he held power, there would be those who would try and shake him down, to take advantage of his vulnerability. By stepping out, he removed himself as a target from those who think nothing more than “What’s in it for me?”.

This is just the Fed investigation. The Texas investigation is still ongoing for state violations......

From another article:

A state case continues in Texas, with a hearing scheduled for Aug. 24. A trial is expected next spring, and could last several weeks.

That’s too bad.

Then Delay should at least challenge him to a duel.

Swords or pistols?

Earle resigned or didn’t run for election in 2008. He ran for the Dem primary nod of Lt. Gov this year and lost to Linda Chavez-Thompson.

I wish Tom DeLay, free from office, would become the new Lee Atwater. Set him loose! Let him go after liberals with a vengence. It would be sweet.
