NYC Mayor: 'Sad Day' If Mosque Plans Blocked (barf alert)
Voice of America Government Propaganda Radio ^ | 8/16/2010

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says it would be a "sad day for America" if opponents block plans for a mosque near the site of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in Manhattan.

Bloomberg told a news conference Monday that the government should not interfere in people's religion. He said stopping the mosque and community center just because they are two blocks away from where "freedom was attacked" would mark a sad day for the country.

The mayor and others who support the building of the center have said it will help bridge divisions between the West and the Muslim world.

Opposition Republicans have criticized President Barack Obama for comments he made supporting the right of developers to carry through with the controversial plan.

Senator John Cornyn said Sunday it is "unwise" to build a mosque near the site where more than 2,600 Americans were killed. He described Mr. Obama as "disconnected from the mainstream of America" for what he said is the president's support of the center's construction.

On Saturday, Mr. Obama said he supports the "right" of Muslims to build a place of worship and community center on private property in New York City, but that he would not comment on the "wisdom" of doing so.

Republican Representative Peter King, who opposes the center's planned location, accused Mr. Obama Sunday of changing his position on the project. King said the project's sponsors are "pouring salt" into what he called Americans' "raw wound" from the attacks.

Opinion polls by CNN/Opinion Research indicate that 68 percent of Americans oppose building a mosque less than one kilometer from the site where al-Qaida hijackers crashed two passenger planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Many Americans say putting a mosque so close to the site would be disrespectful to those killed.

The prayer room would be part of a $100 million Islamic center featuring a 500-seat auditorium, sports facilities, theater and restaurant, and would be open to all visitors.

... Could it be that this is Bloomie’s idea of currying favor with the sheiks and emirs in the Mideast so his news service can gain a foothold there? Hey, business is business, right?

Bloomie's company has had a presence in Dubai for a decade.

I know it's impossible to read or see every article posted here, but thankfully this one was easy for me to find.

Bloomberg makes Dubai a hub {Company of pro "Ground Zero Mosque" Mayor}

May Bloomberg be judged by the denizens of any victory mosque built on that land, and may he be found wanting. And then later bowing in front, waiting for the scimitar to come down.

“The mayor and others who support the building of the center have said it will help bridge divisions between the West and the Muslim world”

And therein lies the problem: Bloomin’ Idiot is delusional

It was a sad day when Bloomberg and his co-conspirators overruled the will of the people (who’d spoken firmly TWICE) and with a stroke of the pen allowed themselves illegal third terms in office.

This was on Aug. 10.
His ratings are plummeting.
NYC is waking up.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Approval Rating Drops Below 50 Percent, Poll Says August 10, 2010

Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s approval rating is at its lowest since 2005, according to a new poll.

DNAinfo Reporter/Producer

CITY HALL — Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s approval rating has fallen below 50 percent for the first time since 2005, according to a new survey.

The Marist Poll found that just 49 percent of New Yorkers think Bloomberg is doing a good or excellent job in office, down from 56 percent in April. Bloomberg’s approval rating last dipped below 50 percent in June 2005, according to Marist.

“Chief executives often find third terms difficult, and the current economic climate is not making it any easier for Bloomberg,” Lee M. Miringoff, director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, said in a statement. “Right now, New York City voters are divided about the job the mayor is doing.”

Thirty-three percent of New York voters think Bloomberg is doing a fair job, 16 percent said he is doing poorly and two percent were uncertain.

Manhattan voters were the most supportive of Bloomberg, with 56 percent saying he is doing a good or excellent job. But that’s still less than the 62 percent who approved of him back in April.

Support for Bloomberg held steady among Republicans over the past few months but dropped among Democrats and unaffiliated voters, Marist found.

Nearly half of those surveyed also said the city is moving in the wrong direction.

Stu Loeser, spokesman for the mayor, said Bloomberg is not afraid to make unpopular decisions based on his principles.

“The mayor has always done what he thinks is right, including cutting programs people like instead of letting the city go into default and standing up for Constitutional rights even if it’s not popular,” Loeser said in a statement. “In the long run, New Yorkers respect that he doesn’t put his finger in the wind to see what to do.”

Despite the low approval rating, just 5 percent of voters called Bloomberg one of the city’s worst mayors. Twelve percent said he would be remembered as one of the city’s best mayors and another 34 percent said he would leave a positive legacy.

Bloomberg hasn’t announced any presidential plans once he leaves office at the end of 2013, but nearly 70 percent of New Yorkers don’t want him to run for the White House, Marist found.

As for who should succeed Bloomberg, voters are expressing a strong opinion about what they don’t want.

Sixty-four percent of voters do not want former Gov. Eliot Spitzer to run for mayor, and 56 percent said they do not want Diana Taylor, Bloomberg’s longtime companion, to run for his office.

Marist spoke to 696 registered voters between July 28 and Aug. 5. The results have a 4 percent margin for error. The Manhattan results encompass 140 registered voters, with an error margin of 8.5 percent.

The muslims, stone cold sober strategists they are, took our temples of capitalism and brought them down in one thunderous, historic attack. The Twin Towers along with the White House, Pentagon and Capitol Buildings were the cornerstone of our greatness. They tried to get them all in one fateful attack. And we still play pity patty with these snake bastards.

Pull back 30,000 feet from the timeline of history and see what has been accomplished. The muslims accomplished through terrorism what the Germans and Japanese could not accomplish with millions of soldiers. They took the fight to us and knocked us back on our heels.

I am always amazed that really rich old guys think that being even richer somehow improves their situation.

Is it just delusion...or is it addiction (literally) to whatever brain chemical is produced by the prospect of wealth?

Whatever it is, it is by any measure of behavior...nutz!

Since I know you can clarify this matter, I humbly beseech...

He lives on the Upper East Side, and has a second home in Bermuda.

Most Manhattanites don't give a sh-t about the Mosque. Its better than another Dunkin Donuts or Duane Reade anyway (not that that's saying much).
