Mark Levin today slammed NJ Governor Chris Christie for his sanctimonious attitude that the controversy over the Mosque at ground Zero is "just politics" and "is being used as a political football by BOTH parties!" He says that this attempt By Christie to make the two positions on the mosque (pro and con) equivalent is nothing more than a naked effort to portray himself as "above it all" and look down his nose (so to speak) at those who have the courage to oppose this thing (most prominently former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin--although Levin does not mention her by name).
Levin praised the courage of those who have stood up to Obama and Bloomberg and opposed this mosque. The "Great One" said that Christie was "dead wrong" to link the opposition to the mosque to intolerance.
Quote: "Just becasue you clobber public sector unions and cut your state's budget does not necessarily mean you are Presidential material." Levin also says he is concerned about Christie's immigration positions.
He tells Christie to: "get serious and take a position" rather than being afraid to "get your hands dirty" by taking a position. The clip is only 2:45 and is worthwhile to listen to.
I’m surprised at Christie on this.
In all fairness to Christie, the marxist animal public sector union bosses and their members are much more dangerous than a bunch of ragheads muzzies any day.

He is a coward and that was the point Levin was making.
Christie’s words:
“I am not going to get into it, because I would be guilty of candidly what I think some Republicans are guilty of, and the president is now the president is guilty of, of playing politics with this issue, and I simply am not going to do it.”
He deserved the headline because he tired to come off as enlightened as opposed to the benighted conservatives (like Palin) who said “Hell no!” to the freaking mosque.
Christie has blown himself up politically and it took a pretty big bomb to do it!
Christie is great on the fiscal side, but Amnesty and now this! I understand he is squishy on the second amendment and has changed positions on abortion. Another RINO.

It's stunning to me that people can even question the appropriateness of this, it's PC gone wild!
My daughter asked me about this today and my reply was similar to what you wrote;
“NO they should not! Radical muslims murdered 3000 Americans on 9/11. Muslims don't need to build a mosque at the site - as a ‘victory sign’! If they were truely peaceful they wouldn't even consider it”.
“Long ago the Pope John Paul II had the Carmelite Nuns move their convent at the remains of Auschwitz out of respect for the victims who died there”.
I hope the rumor that they are giving up their cultural center is true.
It is related to their historical building of muslim buildings on, by or over sites of past victories. Even the place where the plane went down in the field in Penn had plans to erect a memorial very close in design to the ugly muslim cresent with the star....just ick.
I wonder if they thought it out (their sick plan to erect an in your face building beside the twin tower horror) and realized that the millions visiting the future memorial site would be tempted to spit upon the sidewalk in front of the muslim building? Or carry signs calling them out for what they REALLY ARE-people who move to OTHER countries and attempt to subvert and re-write the laws of the same....I mean...I don't think freedom of religion includes a guarantee to build WHEREVER you so choose nor does it include the RIGHT to subvert the culture you have chosen to live in.
In other words, if a muslim does not LIKE American, or British or French or German or Dutch or Italian or ANY OTHER NATION's culture, they should simply not choose to live there. PERIOD. Talk about insult.
How many Christains or Jewish or Buddhist or any other religion of this world is over in Iran or Saudi Arabia DEMANDING freedom to build churches and to force the government there to submit to a special system of rules just for them?
Get real What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Muslims need to grow up and recognize the barbaric nature of their religion.
Muslims are arrogant and very, very horrific towards women. Just yesterday the Taliban in a northern province of Afghanistan STONED a man and woman to death for adultery. Barbaric. (The man did not cooperate and die so he had to be shot three times in the end.) Muslims are animals.
I hope to see her Presidential Portrait some day.

An easy way to "finesse" this would have been to release a statement that said something simple like...
Muslims of goodwill should acknowledge the wishes of the 9/11 families and relocate their proposed community center as a show of enlightened compromise.
...and leave out all the crap about "playin' politics" and "political footballs". He kept saying he should stay out of it, but he couldn't stop himself.

Christie is more right than Levin. The Muslims have a right to build a mosque ANYWHERE as long as there is a willing seller and no contracts are violated. Those who want to destroy their property rights are only creating a precedent for big brother to do the same to them.
The leaders of anti-Mosque hysteria remind me of my Nervous Nellie “sensitive” PC friends who are endlessly offended by everything including smokers, wavers of Confederate flags, people posing in pictures with guns, etc. A price of free speech and property rights is that you will sometime have your “feelings” hurt. The anti-Mosque crusaders need to man up and be more thick skinned.
That statement alone just put him in the same arena as all of the other slimey politicians. Take a stand on this Christie or be like the rest of the slime.
