Federal contractors receiving money for projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)—the $862 billion economic stimulus law President Barack Obama signed in February 2009—have been encouraged and, in some cases, required by the administration to post signs that say their work is funded by that specific act.
Some congressional Republicans are calling the signs propaganda for the administration and questioning their cost.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development recommended one model sign that included these words: “Funded By: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act/ Barack Obama, President.”
The law itself does not require the signs. The program sprung from a March 2009 directive issued by the Office of Management and Budget in the Obama White House.
“Projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will bear a newly-designed emblem,” said the OMB directive. “The emblem is a symbol of President Obama’s commitment to the American People to invest their tax dollars wisely to put Americans back to work.”

Personally, I find these DNC campaign signs disgusting and terrible eyesores.
Massachusetts has spent $500,000 so far on the signs! Go figure.
These signs are all over New Mexico and you can pretty much be guaranteed that when you see one there will be a torn up road with little else going on. And you know it is going to be that way for a LONG time.
I missed a great photo opportunity once not long ago near one of these signs. There were about 20 guys standing around watching one guy pour tar into the cracks in the road. They didn’t look very stimulated to me.

In Massachusetts I’ve seen far more signs than workers at these sites.

Using out tax dollars “WISELY” would include letting contractors use local labor market rates of pay for workers.
Instead, NObama is demanding that inflated UNION rates must be used everywhere on these projects.
I have yet to see that a UNION member with such inflated rate of pay was really a more talented worker than the non-union worker who knew his/her job. That is based on forced membership in 5 unions in my working life before I went into business for myself.
This is machiavellian. Old Nicollo advised to fully publicize any good you do, no matter what the long term effect.
The scaffolding in East Germany was like Obama's "Recovery" signs of today. Another "baseless symbol" of HOPE with no intent of CHANGE. The more signs they put up, with all the economic indicators pointing DOWN ... the more foolish they will look. When you see the sign, think of the scaffolding in East Berlin ... both are DESPARATE symbols placed by DESPARATE regimes.
Perhaps we should post those Obama Stickers that say “OBEY”
I am going to photo copy a whole bunch of these signs — “Funded By: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act/ Barack Obama, President.” with a down arrow, and placed them inside various porto-potties throughout Austin.

Daniel Ortega has similar road project signs all over Nicaragua. Of course, all the signs have his name on them in big letters. Must be a Marxist thing...
