"No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."

-Article VI, Section 3, United States Constitution

Does the religion of a president matter? A Pew Research Center survey showed that nearly 20 percent of Americans believe that President Obama is a Muslim (he is not), and only one-third of Americans believe he is a Christian (he is).

So, The Constitution - which they so casually toss aside in cases involving Christians rights - is the cloak they will hide behind to support having a muslim for a president.

Selective patriotism - the hallmark of the left.

Using their logic, Jim Jones of Jonestown and the kool aid bingers should have been allowed to have been President. After all, it WAS organized religion.

Maybe a religious "test" is out of order, but there are plenty of other areas that this assclown doesn't qualify for as president...and to be a muzzie who supports the WTC mosque is the last straw.

They are trying to turn his quest for a "victory mosque" into a religious intolerance thing...another variation of the "race card".

No fruit...and even some bad fruit. Christians aren’t called upon to judge, we’re commanded to discern.

You’e correct...but the Dems/WH can’t win this one....The majority of Americans aren’t stupid..they know he’s NOT a Christian, because he doesn’t go to church..and they know that Islam is basically an intolerant religion..

“Does the religion of a president matter?”

Only if/when it is used to subvert/displace the Constitution or OTHER religions.

Got that, “O”?? Remember that ‘oath of office’ thingy?????

That’s what I used to think (John 10:9): “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved...”.

Of course we don’t know 0’s heart, but he supposedly confesses Jesus as his Lord.

HOWEVER, he has spoken and enacted legislation very contrary to Christian doctrine. So now I do question his faith.

How about this for proof?

No Christian would have made this slip up, nor would any Hindu, Buddhist, Jew or whatever.

Obama's religion: does your president's faith matter? (WP proclaims Obama a Christian with no proof)

To borrow an overused phrase from an idiot marxist "Let me be perfectly clear" the kenyan usurper 0bama NEVER HAS BEEN, and NEVER WILL BE, my president. As far as I'm concerned, the office has been vacant since noon, January 20, 2009.

And Hell Yes, faith matters - especially when he's a muzzie!

If the poll did not include the choice “no religion”, it is not any good.

My suspicion (there's no way to really know) is that Obama believes in God in a vague sort of way, but recognizes that a professed lack of religion is usually a liability in politics. Accordingly, he found a nominally Christian church (Rev. Wright's) which had politics with which he was comfortable, and attended it for appearance's sake. Now that he's president there's no need to keep up the facade, thus he almost never attends church.

It would be my guess that there are dozens of Congressmen (at least) who feel the same way, belonging to a church strictly because it looks good to some voters.

A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.
By his fruits you shall know him.

Mathew 7:15-20
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you pretending to be sheep. But on the inside they are hungry wolves. 16 You can tell what they really are by what they do.
“Do people pick grapes from bushes? Do they pick figs from thorns? 17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit. But a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t bear bad fruit. And a bad tree can’t bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down. It is thrown into the fire. 20 You can tell each tree by its fruit.

What proof do any of us have, but our words?

It's in the Bible. Our words do not matter. Actions are what matters.

He states that he is a Christian.

And yet, his actions say he is not.

How about his Baptism records for starters. On his school records it states for his religion “Islam”.

That having been said, I couldn’t care less whether the POTUS is a Christian, Buddhist, or atheist, as long as I’m confident that he or she has the correct positions on the issues (from my point of view).

If he justified his 'position' on an issue by saying he's an atheist, and you found out he was a devout Christian, would you trust that person to be President?

The issue is not WHAT religious faith he practices. The issue is, why does he seem to be LYING about it?

The image here:
http://www.goldiproductions.com/thecanadasite/images/cansite/people/churchill_roosevelt_argentia.jpg

is a picture (I can’t figure out how to post the picture in my reply) of FDR and Churchill at Sunday service together on the deck of a destroyer early in the Second World War. They were both Christians, both Protestants for that matter, and they shared a great deal of tradition and worldview.

I’m Jewish, but I’ve always found this picture comforting. If I’d been a sailor on that ship I’d have been happy to see my President sharing that experience, knowing the words of the liturgy, singing songs he’d been raised with, because it would remind me of his commitment to the values that underly Western civilization.

Does it matter that our current President doesn’t share those values? Does that question really need to be asked? And if he does think that the Muslim call to prayer is the sweetest sound in the world, and a large number of Muslims are at war with our country, is that troubling?

Only if you’re awake.

How about using the U. S. Constitution as a reference point and the issue of religion goes away?

I think he'd rather used Islam as a reference point, and have the issue of Christian Religion go away.

After all, when he was being a PRETEND BLACK BAPTIST, he never really enjoyed the sermons. If only he hadn't gone into politics, he wouldn't have had to keep up a sham of being a Christian. He'd rather hear the sweet sounds of the call to prayer, 5 times a day.

FIVE TIMES A DAY. FIVE TIMES A DAY. FIVE TIMES A DAY.

(see if you can find that phrase in the news today)
