Well, New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg continues to take the road less traveled. And he observed that “there are people of every faith–including, perhaps, some in this room–who are hoping that a compromise will end the debate.” “But it won’t,” he said.

Mayor Idiot can take away individual civil rights for anything from smoking to their choice in eating transfat. But the miserable SOB suddenly becomes a strict constitutionalist when it comes to a mosque, a mosque that will be run by a man who blamed the US for the attack.

Frankly, I'm glad to see leftists like Bloomberg completely drop the mask of 'reasonable centrist' and show who they really are and what they really think. We know the left despises patriotism and the legitimate opposition to the clearly triumphal mega-mosque to be built hard by the site of 9/11, the World Trade Center, is just that - patriotism. It's a gut reaction by most Americans, especially New Yorkers, to this insult camouflaged as 'bridge-building'. Yeah, right.
If the left want to take a stand on this hill, let them do so - and (politically) die there. Few Americans are buying the 'freedom of religion' BS and the meme of 'support the Ground Zero mosque or you hate all Muslims' garbage. We're sick and tired of billionaire leftists like Mayor Bloomberg or some Muslim Imam (or his wife) wagging their finger at us and calling us names when we don't immediately bow to their demands to pretend that the building of a triumphal mosque at that location is somehow a manifestation of 'American values'. I don't think so, Mayor. More like a capitulation to Islamic insults, which you seem to be quite comfortable doing. Your choice - but not mine or that of a majority of Americans opposed to this planned mosque.
This insult will not go unanswered, not with violence, but with continued, determined strident opposition at every level for as long as it takes. Americans will not bow to Islamic smears and demands or long tolerate idiotic politicians with more money than brains toadying to Muslim provocateurs.

This is a provocateur seeking to have their enemy throw gas upon a fire. A "shrill ... silence" means silence about the issue, which logically means that the GOP, as a group, declines to do more than what Sen. McConnell has already done.
As Thomas Moore said, "qui tacet consentire videtur"; he who is silent seems to consent and in this case the consent is obviously for the majority opinion - you HEINOUS ASSES. Never take advice from your enemies, your friend's advice is bad enough!
