"Salvation Army is an organization that funds abortions. The United Way, in the past has been a strong supporter of groups such as Planned Parenthood. They are both losers. "

=============================================

WOW! This makes me VERY sad.

The Salvation Army has been my favorite charity for most of my life.

I am hugely disappointed.

Well?
I’m still waiting.
You should either back up your claim or withdraw it.
What will it be?

The Salvation Army believes in the sanctity of human life because human beings are made in the image of God. Each person is of eternal value and each life a gift from God worth cherishing, nurturing, and preserving. The Salvation Army therefore takes seriously the needs, rights and responsibilities of parents and unborn children when considering the matter of abortion. We are committed to the protection and care of the unborn, and to the promotion of societal systems that promote wholeness, freedom, quality of life and the development of the potential of all persons.

The Salvation Army supports responsible measures necessary to avoid unwanted pregnancy and is opposed to abortion as a means of birth control. We are concerned about a growing social acceptance of abortions and believe that a genetic abnormality in the unborn child is not generally sufficient to warrant a termination of pregnancy.

When an unwanted pregnancy occurs, The Salvation Army counsels that the parents receive caring support for their emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs, and that the unborn child be carried to term.

The United Way has always been corrupt...very high pay for the bigwigs at the expense of the charities.

Topher has yet to back up the claim that he made in post #5.
I can find plenty to show he/she is wrong and nothing to confirm he/she is right.
He/she has had neither the courage nor the integrity to respond to their claim.

I have asked you several times to back up this assertion
and you have refused to do so.
I have asked you for evidence of your claim.
I have given you evidence to the contrary in posts #43 and #44.
I am asking the admin moderator to delete your slanderous post at #5;
unless you would like to provide evidence to back up your claim.
What’s it going to be?
Put up or shut up.
If I am wrong, I will admit it - will you?

I put up 2 links in post #41 from Life Decisions International that that would indicate that Topher is not making this up, and as much as I wish this were a lie my research indicates it is not.

Perhaps instead of shooting the messenger your time would be better spent contacting the Salvation Army for clarification.

The UN is the big government in the sky worshiped by many globalists in our midst and both parties and many corporations.

Some day they hope the UN will just be able to dip directly into our treasury and take what they want. The uppity Red Cross will be nothing...easily crushed by the UN gods with a global sized appitite for corruption.

While I was employed, my company was a sponsor of United Way and we were pretty much coerced into donating to that org. via weekly deductions from our paychecks.........

They mask their true objectives by offering a myriad of choices that you can designate your donations go to but in the end, there was no guarantee that those designations actually received your donation.

One of my uncles was in WW2 and said the same thing about the Red Cross, nothing good to say about them. He made a comment once that the Red Cross sold donated Ciggies to the guys fighting the war and they were suppose to be given free to the soldiers.....my father was a cop in detroit and was not a church going person, but said the only organization he saw doing any good work in the city was the Salvation Army.....Based on family reports, I never gave to the Red Cross and did the Salvation Army, and I love shopping at their stores...

LifeSiteNews.com posted the following:

Newly Identified Corporate Supporters of Planned Parenthood Named

In that article is the following paragraph:

The new Boycott List includes a "Dishonorable Mention" section, which identifies charitable groups that are associated with Planned Parenthood and/or its agenda. Groups named in this section include Lions Clubs, the American Cancer Society, Easter Seals, Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Camp Fire, Girls Inc., Girl Scouts, Kiwanis Clubs, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Rotary Clubs, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Salvation Army, YWCA, America Gives Back (formerly [American] Idol Gives Back), and YMCA, among others.

At the end of the following article, someone from the Salvation Army is quoted as saying that in the case of deformities, abortion is okay.

The link is:

http://www.fightpp.org/downloads/pubs/May-June.pdf

This is at the very end of the article (page 8).

Two articles:

Newly Identified Corporate Supporters of Planned Parenthood Named

The Salvation Army is listed in the Charitable Organization section of this article...

And a second article. In the 2nd article, go to page 8 for discussion of the stand of the Salvation Army and abortion.

No. What confused me, and made me associate the Salvation Army as an undesirable organization was an article on LifeSiteNews.com titled:

Newly Identified Corporate Supporters of Planned Parenthood Named

In that article, Salvation Army is listed in the dishonorable charities section.

From the title of the article, I assumed they had some ties with Planned Parenthood but it is more that Salvation Army considers abortion okay.

There is one article where a Salvation Army official points that abortion should be okay in the case of deformities.

That is in the article:

http://www.fightpp.org/downloads/pubs/May-June.pdf

It is on page 8 of that article that it talks about the Salvation Army's stand on abortion.

The Salvation Army? Dang, I have given them lots of money.

However, I have been feeling that we should pick a down and out Christian family in our community and give them a good Christmas rather than going through these cheesey organizations that tip in values with one leader or fad to the next. There are a lot of good, harding working families out of work right now through no fault nor desire of their own. (Unemployment - Obammy’s Muslim present to the Christians.) I will have to get a pastor who can help us find that family to jazz up this Christmas.
