Today First Lady Michelle Obama and President Obama will travel to New Orleans to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Was in NOLA and on the Ms coast last month. The contrast could not be more stark. NOLA residents still see Katrina as a federal cash cow. Mississippi coastal communities (which were much more heavily damaged) have moved on and rebuilt, probably in spite of the feds.

That's what I was wondering about yesterdays 47th anniversary of the MLK I have a dream speech. I don't remember the celebration for the 46th anniversary or any of the other 45 to be honest.
I'm sure looking forward to the 48th annual commeration next year. If Beck plans another "event" next August 28th, we'll know then that he really did plan it that way.

My elderly mother was a wild Irish rogue, too. We saw the Crying Game together, and when the “heroine” in the throes of lust stripped and bared “her” penis to her male unsuspecting lover to be, my Mother screamed out, “Oh, My Gawd, the whole enchilada.” Brought the house down. Actually was a great film, and Boy George did justice to the song.
