Sebelius: Time for 'Reeducation' on Obama Health Care Law

ABC News' Steven Portnoy reports:

With a number of polls showing a sustained level of opposition to the Democrats’ health care reform efforts more than five months after passage, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the Obama administration has “a lot of reeducation to do” heading into the midterms.

While some surveys – namely the Kaiser Family Foundation monthly tracking poll – have suggested an uptick in support for the reforms, most other surveys continue to show a steady level of opposition to the new law that remains higher than the favorable opinions of it.

“Unfortunately, there still is a great deal of confusion about what is in [the reform law] and what isn’t,” Sebelius told ABC News Radio in an interview Monday.

“Why didn’t she begin the reeducation?”

That’s what apparently she doesn’t get. Public support for health reform steadily declined the more people knew about the plan.

Does it have some goodies for selected interest groups? Sure. But for every person helped, there are multiple people who will be harmed by being forced to get a different health plan, pay higher premiums, pay higher medical bills due to taxes on pharma and medical devices. Indeed, even among the elderly, the number of people who will lose their Medicare Advantage plan or benefits will exceed the number who benefit from $250 checks for drug expenses.

Thus, any effort to “re-educate” the currently on-the-fence members of the public is going to inevitably flip more of them into opposing the bill than supporting the bill. And those who already are opposed are likely to be incensed to see even more taxpayer dollars wasted in trying to bamboozle the public.

Maybe a bit of October surprise hype?
So when they pull off their vote fraud
with the help of ACORN (whatever it is now),
they can say the polls didn’t reflect the
re-enlightenment of the masses.

Grab your guns folks.

I replenished my ammo stock yesterday, but I'm thinking I may need to make another trip to the gun shop.

See that, those greedy seniors can be bought off for $250

$250 will buy a lot of cat food. With enough left for a can opener! See how well our Dear Leader provides!

Maybe we should ask the survivors of Cambodia’s Killing Fields how they feel about the term “re-education.”

"That’s what apparently she doesn’t get. Public support for health reform steadily declined the more people knew about the plan."

I think that the possibility of the Progressives being wrong hasn't entered their pointy little heads. It confuses them that all do not fall down and worship the decrees of "The Won"...

VERY poor choice of words.

I would have said something a little friendlier, like, "People who don't like this law ought to be in a Gulag or something."

Laz, we can always count on you to put your finger on the heart of the matter and then tear it out with dripping sarcasm!

Thank you for being you!

“It confuses them that all do not fall down and worship the decrees of “The Won”...”

It’s sad that so many progressives still maintain the proposition that once people start enjoying the benefits of Obamacare, they will resist every effort to repeal it. I really hope we don’t have to demonstrate with dismal results just how bad Obamacare actually would be when implemented. Moreover, whatever bad happens likely would be blamed on “greedy” private health insurers and simply amplify calls to move to single payer (given that private health insurance had been tried and “failed”).

In that regard, they lived in a self-reinforcing bubble impervious to evidence and entirely divorced from reality. Think how many deaths had to occur in USSR and China before some progressives woke up and smelled the coffee about the inherent totalitarian nature of the communist enterprise.

But see those same Progressives now are in essences telling us that "this time we can do Communism right!"
