Leaders from 55 major mosques and Islamic organizations held a rally on the steps of City Hall today to speak out against against religious intolerance and defend the building of the Park51 Islamic cultural center in Downtown Manhattan and other mosques in America.
Before a large crowd, speakers said that there is a rising tide of intolerance against Muslims in the United States. They also said that across the country politicians are fanning the flames of controversy over the proposed Manhattan mosque on Park Place.
The demonstrators said that Islam is not a foreign religion to the United States, and has deep roots in the country's history. They also remarked on how the Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of religious expression.
"This kind of verbal assault upon Islam and Muslims is unprecedented in our history," said Imam Al-Amin Abdul Latif of Majlis Ash-Shura of New York. "This nation was founded on the values of religious freedom and tolerance and fairness and justice and pluralism. We're going backwards."

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is it’s own government, a economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...all wrapped up in the word sharia. This is inclusive of its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and it’s goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.

Exactly. In NY...there are enough people from all walks of life...to make life very miserable for the mosque and it’s followers.
I’m just sayin...back door justice is sometimes more effective. Let them spend (waste) their money making a pretty building that will never pass code.
Not giving up, just would like to consider a more stealthy approach. Americans have been very tolerant of Islam since 9-11. Look at England, look at France, look at Norway. They’re really struggling with Islam all in the name of “tolerance”. If they want to build, it’s their constitutional right. That guarantees them nothing in the long-term. Can’t wait to attend the grand opening! 10 years from now.
If there are any “terrorists” being trained or schooled in the Mosque, the FEDS will shut it down...if we still have a country by then.
