U.S. Embassy Reaffirms U.S. Respect for Islam (Obama Condemns 1st Amend. Protected Koran Burning)
U.S. Embassy in Kabul ^ | Monday, September 6, 2010

Posted on 09/06/2010 10:20:39 AM PDT by kristinn

The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.

The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.

President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: “Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”

Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.

Just a few days ago, President Obama’s Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.

Respect for Islam? I’m opting out of that one.

If the loony left thinks we are going to bend over and take it when a victory mosque is slated at Ground Zero, they need to cut back on their drugs. This is just the beginning!

I wonder how the muslim embassies in the U.S. would react to getting a few burned korans wrapped in bacon.

It's more constructive to say, fund the Iranian resistance, stand with Israel, fund anyone CAIR attacks, rally against the GZ mosque, etc, etc.

But what are we doing that is so helpful against Islamic domination? We're burning Koran in a highly publicized way, giving the Jihadis a powerful propaganda and recruitment tool.

Apparently, Obama thinks the First Amendment only applies to the people who want to build Cordoba House.

“...war is inevitable and we might as well get it over with now.”

I think it has been underway for some time. “Jihad” was the reason the Muslim gave for gunning down 14 American military personnel in Texas recently.

How about the truth? The reality? Islam has claimed another 3 dead and 25 mutilated bodies just today. Glad to know Obama is there to defend this.

Tell that to the guys in Afghanistan, fighting not just our enemies, but the propaganda war, that uses idiocy like this to rally them to their cause.

I have a daughter in Iraq, right now...

I'll even buy my own Koran to burn...She and her fellow soldiers can and will handle things on their end...

When did this government ever step up to speak out against attacks on Christianity?

THIS was funded by the US taxpayer:

The best thing Obama could have done is educate the ummah about the First Amendment while saying he personally disagrees with the Koran burning and how the American system works to prevent religious bloodshed--even when religions offend one another.

It offends me that Saudi Arabia has zero tolerance for all other religious faiths and texts.

Did President Obama ever speak out against Fred Phelps (D) or did he give him a pass?

but he questions the wisdom of doing so since it might endanger our troops and hurt our Muslim allies in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as in the Middle East.

The Embassy is just following orders as is Petraeus. Obama is MIA on this issue.

Obama has a responsibility to our troops.

The media's hyping of the Abu Ghraib photos (so they could try to oust Bush from office in 2004) did our troops and Iraqi citizens serious harm. It emboldened the muslim jihadists who flooded into Iraq from other nations to wages acts of terrorism.

The Wikileaks treason also does our troops harm.

The Communist funded ANSWER also did our troops harm.

Bit late to close the barn door on it now by saying that US citizens no longer have the right to be disrespectful of another person's religous text.

Even Marilyn Manson was permitted to tear up Christian bibles in civic owned venues.
