My opinion is that he’s REALLY quitting because he loves his cancer-stricken wife, wants to spend time with her, knows his city is in deep money trouble with his popularity low, and knows it’s time.
Personally speaking, I just hope Maggie’s cancer is not worse. She’s been fighting it at least five years.
As to Rahm E., I don’t think he has a chance to be elected mayor. There are probably 15-20 others who are ready to jump into the race, and it’s not a Democrat-Republican thing. It’s a 50% plus one win. I think if there’s no winner the first round, then it’s the top two in a run-off.
uh oh, waiting for the other shoe to fall........
You were obviously smitten by the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment!!!
That really was a pretty good book...
I liked how it put a few things together in a nice, neat package...

He ain’t exactly what you’d call handsome
>He apparently wants someone else to bear the legacy of Chicagos bankruptcy.
BINGO
Rahm I mean. I have no clue what Daley does to the mirror.
You nailed it!
Mayor of Chicago runs the state. I've been gone from Chicago for a while....not sure if Rahm had the where-with-all to force Da Mayor out, but it sounds like Richie is ready to go. Shocked or surprised ? Doubt that
The first Mayor Daley was that type of Mayor. He was a sleazebag but he did grow the city and prevented it from becoming Detroit.
Now if we can get Meigs rebuilt.......
LOL, Daley’s rich, very rich.
Hillbuzz.org says it’s because his wife hasn’t long to live.
Chicago is his reward. Daly knows the party duty. White House ‘stunned’? Ha! I think not. Nothing to see here. If Rahm does run, how likely is it, really, that he’d lose?... (rhetorical)
Maybe just going along, giving Rahm his due, to avoid being indicted or outed or having that blue dress surface... ;-)
He knows he’s bound to be taken out sooner or later anyway; what he may not realize is, his de facto immunity ends when he’s no longer in charge, and there are a lot of scores to settle. Thanks Justaham.
Well, when everything is unexpected...
I’m guessing some sort of indictments are in the works, and a deal was made to step aside.
Yeah, sure it does.
Leave it to AFP to play the "straight man"...
