New polling in West Virginia has moved that state's U.S. Senate race from Leans Democrat to Toss-Up.
Other recent changes came from polling in Alaska, Kentucky, Ohio, and Washington.
Current projections suggest that the Democrats would hold 47 seats after Election Day while the Republicans would hold 45. Eight states are in the Toss-Up category (California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Washington and West Virginia. Seven of the eight Toss-Ups are seats currently held by Democrats. Ohio is the only exception.
Republicans have the edge in five Democratic-held Senate seats--Arkansas, Indiana, North Dakota, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
At the moment, no Republican-held seats appear headed for the Democratic column.
The state results and overall projections will be updated whenever new polling data justifies a change (to learn how Rasmussen Reports determines its Balance of Power rankings, click here).
In the table below, the states marked in red currently have a Republican senator. Those in blue currently have a Democratic senator.

Great news...now its time for the Tea Party folks to move in and stir stuff up and the RNC/GOP DC elites o become invisible.
And Robert Byrd is not even yet decomposed.
SURF’S UP!!!!!
Do0n;t get your hopes up.....W. Virginia was where Kennedy STOLE the elction from Nixon.
Looking at the lists.... we COULD see a 15 NET gain of seats. TWICE what anyone else was predicting just weeks ago.
This would be a Nuclear Holocaust for the Dems.
West Virginia is a critical state as I understand the Democrat running is a pretty well known and popular fellow.
It seems as if the Republicans can win there, they have succeeded in nationalizing the election which really goes in their favor considering the mess the nation is in.
Oh, but he’s incorruptible don’t ya know. /s
Ha! I predicted this race would tighten once it looked possible.
Don't be so sure. He was 95% there before he croaked.
First, that was 50 freaking years ago! Second, it was Illinois that cost Nixon the election with Daley holding back the Chicago results until it could be determined how many votes were needed for Kennedy to win.
I KNOW when it was....I just didn’t want her getting her hopes up!!
“And Robert Byrd is not even yet decomposed.”
He’s pickled. It will take a century.
You are correct. WV is insular. And John Raese is a horrible weak candidate and Joe is invincible. I mean two weaks ago the Dems were fighting each other and each side was picking out the new drapes for the Governor’s office.
NOW this poll?
Joe may be going BACK to his office and staying for life or even getting primaried.
Thus, WV has finally nationalized an election for US Senate. An historical event. Even if Raese loses now, by a few points. It will send SHOCK WAVES.
This is BIG.
Here's hoping...
Oh my hopes are now TO THE MOON!
See, I know WV. And I know John Raese. And the staff he has. And the party problems and the 1 party rule for 80 years and WHY.
So, until 2 weeks ago, I was TOTALLY NEGATIVE on WV. Look at my old posts.
I can go 1,000 words deep on why Raese wouldn’t get 32%.
But he IS doing the right things. He needs to KEEP doing them. Don’t go all wussy and soft NOW.
Hit HARDER. MEANER. It works!
Just WIN dammit!
This is where my happy face turns south.
I don't think we will have THAT support. Already our so called leaders are starting to talk about FIXING it and not UNDOING it. They are talking about EXTENDING the tax cuts for a couple years and Not CUTTING SPENDING.
I have a great feeling about the election and a HORRIFIC FOREBODING about how they will govern and 2012 if they fail to do rightly.
WV ain’t no HI or MA or RI or NY...
Go to the Rasmissen analysis...very interesting!
