Burning The Quran
Investor's Business Daily ^ | September 10, 2010 | Investors Business Daily staff

Hypocrisy: When the U.S. Army burned Bibles in Afghanistan, no one said a word. When churches burn around the world, crickets chirp. Burning Qurans in Florida is stupid and offensive, but so is the double standard.

When President Obama gave a speech at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution, he asked that all images and symbols representing Jesus Christ be covered so as not to be in the frame of any videos or photos of the event. There were no reports of rioting.

Nor did Christians riot when Christian U.S. Army soldiers attempted to hand out Bibles to Afghans in their native language. The soldiers were stopped, and the Bibles were confiscated and burned with the daily trash.

We do not endorse book burning or the burning of the holy book of any religion. We'd advise Pastor Terry Jones of the 50-member Dove World Outreach Center against going through with his planned Quran burning on Saturday, Sept. 11, the day the World Trade Center and the people inside burned in 2001.

YOu got that right! I was telling my son that very thing last night, that the Koran is a manual of war against non-believers - predecessor to Mein Kampf.

"I’ll say it again, after spending the sums they have to erect two regimes in which Christianity isn’t even legal while ignoring major persecution of Christians in the world, the federal government has no standing to cry over any sort of koran burning in America."

Bravo Wendy. I wouldn't burn one either, because I don't like it when someone burns the flag. But if someone wants to burn one, burn it. Burn a thousand of them, I don't give a fat rats @$$.

If some camel jockey gets his panties in a bunch and feels murderous about it, tell our boys over there to lock and load. Tell the folks here in the US to lock and load too.

If thats all it takes for them to want to kill, we don't want or need them here anyway.

That ground zero mosque imam gave a glimpse of the fututre when he said "The ground zero mosque has to be handled correctly or there will be violence".

So let me get this straight. We CAN'T change the place of that mosque, and we CAN'T burn a koran, and we CAN'T publish any cartooms of that pedophile they worship, and we CAN'T make any movies that depict Islam in a bad light...or there will be violence...

Anyone care to guess what the next thing we CAN'T do will be?

Burn that koran. Burn all of them, and lets get the party started. It'll start sooner or later anyway...whenever we decide as a society that enough's enough. We should decide that now and nip this thing in the bud.

What the minister is doing is the theological equivalent of Luther nailing his theses to the door of the Church at Wurtemberg, or Ferdinand and Isabella driving the last Muslim bastards out of Grenada.

Its a public statement of defiance and anger, not a private meaningless act.

And THAT is why the Saudi-bankrolled elitists and politically correct intimidated wimps are crying and wringing their hands.

A double standard - one of Muslims and one of “unbelievers” - and THAT is PRECISELY what ISLAM is ALL ABOUT!!!

How stupid can the opponents of the Koran burning GET?????

If the Mosque goes up anywhere near ground zero, I’ll burn every Quran I can get my hands on.

Books should not be burned - they are the seeds of knowledge. Anyone who burns books is no better than the Nazis of the 1930’s - or the firemen of Farenheit 451 ...

Likewise, violence should not ensue simply because books are burned - violence over burning a book is the seed of stupidity [unless, of course, it is the last book] ...

ROFLOL! That is classic!

On September 11 we should all do that.

If you have a shredding program you can really delete it.

“I can download the quran and delete it on my computer or put it in the trash/recycle bin -— what is the difference?”

Exactly - or “burn”” it onto a CD and then smash it with a hammer and called it “art”.

But I still think the public burning is overall a stupid idea. Legal, yes. Clever - no.

Or just take a copy and use it as target practice - who’s gonna stop you?

I have a copy of the Quran. It never occurred to me to burn it until now.

I'd burn one, but I'm opposed to spending hard earned cash on trash. Anyone know of a website where you can light a match to one on line?

No offense, but it's ironic that it is compared to Luther - he was made known due to the printing press… This is a new age of printing - why would downloading the quran and deleting it electronically be different? I could print it on toilette paper… I can print it on Canadian bacon… Its online to desecrate any way one sees fit…

Mark Levin said the same thing on his show tonite. He spoke with Rush and Rush said he can’t remember the guy. He’ll probably talk about it tomorrow.

So let the left run wild and make bigger asses out of themselves.

well I think the pastor accomplished what he was probably intending: to reveal the cowards among us. He will likely call off the event, having made his point.

We should take careful note of all those who insist on stopping the burning for fear of Muzzie reprisals. This is blackmail top to bottom, Islam threatens bloody violence if we 1) burn qu’rans in a tiny parish back lot and/or 2) move the trophy mosque away from ground zero.

I learned to confront bullies in grade school.

Hypocrisy: When the US Army burned bibles in Afghanistan, no one said a word.

I have been monitoring one Anderson Cooper and his cohorts on CNN. These include David Gergen and Paul Begala with Jeffrey Toobin. At one time one of them sputtered about putting the troops in terrible jeopardy.

At this point I tried to assess what had actually happened, re the pastor. The man had claimed he was to burn the Koran. This means that so far, it is words. These men have thrown a juvenile hissy fit. I do not like to see books burned myself- any books. The presumed burning of a book brings out these men in all their politically correct kow tow.

At least we can see what the import of militant Islamists have brought about. Raw naked fear about an intended and supposed act, that has not taken place.
