41 Obama White House aides owe the IRS $831,000 in back taxes -- and they're not alone
LA Times ^ | 9/10/2010 | Andrew Malcom

Over the years a lot of suspicion has built up across the country about Washington and its population of opportunistic transients coming to see themselves as a special kind of person, somehow above average working Americans who don't work down in that former swamp.

Well, finally, an end to all those undocumented doubts. Thanks to some diligent digging by the Washington Post, those suspicions can at last be put to rest.

They're correct. Accurate. Dead-on. Laser-guided. On target. Bingo-bango. As clear as it's always seemed to those Americans who don't feel special entitlements and do meet their government obligations.

We now know that federal employees across the nation owe fully $1 billion in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

As in, 1,000 times one million dollars. All this political jabber about giving middle-class ...

... Americans a tax cut. Thousands of feds have been giving themselves one all along -- unofficially. And these tax scofflaws include more than three dozen folks who work for the president with that newly decorated Oval Office.

The Post's T.W. Farnum did some research and found that out of the total sum, just 638 workers on Capitol Hill owe the IRS $9.3 million in back taxes. As in, overdue. The IRS gets stiffed by the legislative body that controls its budget. How Washington works.

[Snip]

Privacy laws prevent release of individual tax delinquents' names. But we do know that as of the end of 2009, 41 people inside Obama's very own White House owe the government they're allegedly running a total of $831,055 in back taxes. That would cover a lot of special chocolate desserts in the White House Mess.

"If all people, 100%, worked for the government, who would pay the taxes to pay them?"

Oooh, Oooh! I know, I know! Pick me! Pick me!

"We'll just print more money!"

"It must either tax the people or print money which becomes worth less and less until it become worthless. Zimbabwe is a prime example..."

Awww, you already gave the answer.

They probably only make over $100,000 and these turkeys feel that lowly taxpayers should bow down to them since they serve King Obama...

my check last week was $2200 gross/$1200 net after the taxes were confiscated, and thats before getting hit with state 10% sales tax, embedded utility bill taxes, county sewer fee/tax and highway fuel tax, to name a few.

that means of that original $2200, about $800 (1/3) goes back to feed the economy, the rest goes to feed the government monster

how can an economy operate that way !

“I asked a die-hard liberal friend of mine why he votes for people who will raise his taxes. His reply was, “no problem, I’ll just cheat more on my taxes.”

Bingo!

I believe members (at least the officers) of the military are also watched closely. A clear case of, “do as I say, not as I do.”

In 1920 John Maynard Keynes wrote:

“By a continuous process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.”

The WP article says that the republicans tried to pass a bill that fed employees not paying taxes be fired but couldn’t get any dem co-sponsers or support for the bill. Go figure.”

Perhaps we can get this idea revived after elections in November. I will write a note to Dean Heller, my Rep here in Nevada. Also John Ensign, my congressional Senator.

I have wondered for some time if we could bar from voting anyone who takes government money in any form. If these government "workers" were unable to vote themselves a pay raise or a power increase there would be no "Progressive" movement.

Not to worry, folks.

Turbo-Tax Timmy will just make one quick call to Shulman over at IRS and this will all disappear before the afternoon is over.

Move along, nothing to see here.

“I must be very little...” At least the dear leader’s wookie is thinking of us.
Hi All,
For only the second time in my adult life, I am not ashamed of my country. I want to thank the hard working American people for paying $242 thousand dollars plus additional expenses for my vacation in Spain. My daughter Sasha, several long-time family friends, my personal staff and various guests had a wonderful time. Honestly, you just haven’t lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00 per night suite at a 5-Star luxury hotel. We only booked 70 rooms for our friends, staff and family. Thank you also for the use of Air Force 2 and the 70 Secret Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times. Air Force 2 only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2. It costs only $11,500 per hour to operate Air Force 2 and each additional plane for the other members of our party group. These are only rough estimates, but they are close (who’s counting?).That’s quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint. I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the table and trying to make ends meet. I do appreciate your sacrifice and do hope you find work soon. I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days. Will write more from Martha’s Vineyard where we will spend our sixth vacation this year with more of our family and friends.
Cordially, M. Obama

Taxes are imposed on the citizenry for the support of needy affluent Democrats.Democrats at both ends of the economic spectrum are tax consumers not payers. Democrats, rich and poor, do not pay taxes.
