FACT CHECK: Obama's tone shifts on health care (AP Reams Hussein for Lying Alert)
Associated Press ^ | September 22, 2010 | Erica Werner and Calvin Woodward

President Barack Obama told voters repeatedly during the health care debate that the overhaul legislation would bring down fast-rising health care costs and save them money. Now, he's hemming and hawing on that.

So far, the law he signed earlier this year hasn't had the desired effect. An analysis from Medicare's Office of the Actuary this week said that the nation's health care tab will go up — not down — through 2019 as a result of Obama's sweeping law, though the increase is modest.

Obama offered some caveats when asked in his news conference Friday about the apparent discrepancy between what he promised and what's actually happening so far. On several other topics, too, his rhetoric fell short of a full accounting.

Picturing the next State of the Union address and hoping that a tiny group of people stand up and cheer their dear leader’s every teleprompted comment, while a majority sit patiently waiting for it to end.

Maybe they could wear little tiny pins on their lapels reading ‘You Lie’ in little tiny print.

Recall the number of times Obama said X wouldn't raise taxes, costs, premiums, etc., one dime?

Google: About 2,340,000 results for Obama+one dime.

Our President answered "cost curve" question by saying that it costs more to insure the 31 million who did not have insurance prior to reform. The 6.3% increase was for the first half of this year, but the "journalists" in the room did not follow up.

"Mr. President, how many of those 31 million that were uninsured before your miracle reform are insured now?"

"Well... uhhhh... ummm... next question."

If Hussein actually said that his healthcare would "save money," then he would not have to specify WHOSE money was being saved.

My guess is that he intended for his healthcare to save the government and insurance company's money. He had no intention to include the individual consuming American as those who would be saving money.

So, in that regard he should then be considered a smarmy, lying scumbag trying to make us all think that he would actually lower OUR insurance rates.

To that lady in the back row, "Hussein is NOT going to pay your mortgage payments, nor will he give you free gas for your car."

And, included in the article:

"But the surpluses the government foresaw in 2001 were based on a bubble economy that was bound to burst. And the deficit Obama inherited was only partly from Bush's fiscal policies.

Mostly it was a result of a recession that sapped tax revenues, increased the costs of safety net programs and demanded more government spending to stimulate the economy. As recently as 2007, the budget deficit was just $161.5 billion. The current annual deficit is now an estimated $1.5 trillion.

Even the AP is now... finally...acknowledging that it was NOT ALL BUSH'S FAULT!
