...She married her husband for love, not money. She does not have perfect kids, which is big for me. She has been totally vetted by the liberal media and they did not come up with anything other than she is a 'hick'." - Marilea David -- West Des Moine

Democrats may detest her, and so does the Republican establishment

We’ll see if the “Republican establishment” is the same after 2010. She’s knocked out a lot of RINOs already.

Over time, it went from Palin wouldn’t be running ‘cos she left her Governor’s job and therefore didn’t have political platform to engage in politics, to she isn’t running ‘cos she likes making money, to wouldn’t win the nomination ‘cos the republican establishment or Romney would stop her, and now finally that she won’t be president ‘cos she’ll be easily be beaten by Obama.

But Palin is already polling level with Obama even though she hasn’t yet started running a campaign, and has been running in essence a one-woman operation.

Still hanging on to their illusions.

C-SPAN is covering her speech to the Iowa Republicans at their RWR dinner live, and I will post a LIVE thread on Friday for us.

My post to the Guardian:

I’m a conservative American and I’d put a bet on Palin to win the Republican nomination. Romney is too liberal for Republicans (he created a very similar health care system in Massachusetts to what Obama implemented for the USA). Romneycare in Massachusetts has been a disaster with huge cost overruns and big problems for the state. That is why Scott Brown, a Republican, won the Senate seat that Ted Kennedy held.

I would also bet that Palin wins against Obama. There’s two years to go but Obama has been a dismal failure so far and is openly a joke now among a big majority of non-black Americans. He has lost the independent vote at this point. Hillary may run against Obama which will bleed cash from the Dems and divide the party. Blacks will sit on their hands and Dems will be in trouble with 10% of the country and 20% of their vote sitting out the election if Obama loses, because blacks will be incredibly dispirited and angry. If Hillary loses, her supporters will be dispirited and lacking in energy; most importantly among the independent voters.

Massive government spending failed under Franklin Roosevelt to get the USA out of depression. We were in depression for 10 years under Roosevelt. 10 years of misery. Now that the internet exists it’s not so easy to play the “rubes” and “common people” and pretend a plan that is a failure is a success. Obama is an anti-colonialist and a socialist at heart and by vocation. He has used every trick he knows and has failed to create jobs — and there isn’t time for him to impose a dictatorship before the elections — and if he tried Americans are armed to the teeth.

Good luck socialists, but your idealogy doesn’t work and there are still Americans that have kept the faith.

There were nasty intramural wars here during the 07/08 primaries, I expect the same or worse this time. Fortunately, and God Bless Fred Thompson, but it is going to be more fun supporter Palin. The really interesting thing is that it seems all the Thompson supporters like Palin, and the rest either hate her or are skeptical. Looks it will be the same players warring all over again.

LOL!

The questions are: How do the majority of non-leftist voters, successfully, make sure that an actual conservative is the final choice for POTUS, in ‘12 and beyond, and how do the majority of non-leftist voters, successfully, make sure that all RINO candidates, at every political level, are continuously defeated in all future elections?

In politics, consensus is power. In a government by the people, power rightly emanates in groundswell upward from individuals -from the people, RATHER than from power brokers.

The establishment elite and professional politicians that have not led because they were afraid to stick their necks out now increasingly find themselves set upon a new landscape -they are no longer able to duck for cover and equivocate safely knowing the establishment has their backs -they will have to make a choice -follow, or get out of the way OTHERWISE they will get their *sses handed to them by the people...

Democrats may detest her, and so does the Republican establishment, for her perceived lack of sophistication and polarizing effect on the electorate.

Sounds like Ronald Reagan...in 1979.

I went to the Palin appearance in Des Moines during the campaign. The cheers were definitely for her
There is a huge amount of pent up passion that could be released for her if she runs.
Expect the most vile, hateful attacks against her if it looks like she can sweep the wreckage of the Obama catastrophe away.

Long before the contest has formally begun, Palin is fast on the way to becoming unstoppable.

The Brits see it but many here in the U.S. and even on this forum are willfully blind.

Murkowski tried running on the positive “bring home the bacon” banner, and that didn’t work. So, she warns Castle. The Castle people respond by going nuclear negative on O’Donnell. When that doesn’t work, MAYBE they will learn that the way to defuse a challenge from the right is to actually MOVE TO THE RIGHT.

“I think she is great. She is the only person I am excited about just now,”

If given the chance a President Palin may well turn out to be the American version of the “Iron Lady” (Britian’s Thatcher), I believe.
