“I’d be more upset about this if I’d have some of my own money involved. I quit supporting the RNC and the NRSC some time ago. I only support individual candidates.”

I guess that means you were on the bleeding edge. Solid work!

“The GOP just created a third party.”

Better to storm the gates - for now. Perhaps in future we’ll be known as the Grand Old TEA Party...LOL.

I kind of like that - “in other news, in GOTV efforts by the GOTP...”

Well these people who live inside The Beltway are too removed from reality to understand what is happening.
The Grass Roots Tea Party, or whatever you want to call it, is a new force in politics and it is picking and supporting the candidates it wants, most of them Conservative by the way.
The RNC wonders why it's fund raising is down have only themselves to blame and it's looking at them in the mirror.
Their own ignorance not to mention the MSM also, they just don't get the anger and frustration of the average voter regardless of Race, Creed or Religion.
So the Washington D.C. insiders can either get with the new program or be left behind.

Someone suggested sending back tea bags in response to GOP funding requests.

Great idea! I'll be doing that with the next round of RNC solicitations. It's worth sacrificing a little of my tea.

Hallelujah! I can hardly wait for the NRSC's telemarketer to call me.

Dang. I wish I knew their number. I'd call them!

I think tonights results should put to bed the lie that Castle was more “electable”. How could someone whose loses the primary by such a large margin be more “electable” than the winner?

EXACTLY! I've read so many comments that "everybody knows" she can't win the general. Well "everybody" said she couldn't beat Castle either and she NAILED him!

“The Grass Roots Tea Party, or whatever you want to call it”

I’m talking specifically about the idea that a 3rd party is viable, when what we need is a rejuvenated 2nd party. We cannot and must not think about a 3rd party - we must think about taking OVER the 2nd party slot - whatever that entails. That’s because history, Constitutional and election law relegate against 3rd parties. I don’t have to remind anyone here that we’re not a parliamentary system, do I?

A 3rd party candidate is extremely difficult to get on the ballot in all 50 states - let alone come anywhere near electoral success - as Ross Perot proved.

Much better that we pick up the pieces of the shattered Republican party - and form it anew!

Also on the plus side, apparently they won’t waste $3m on her campaign either...

Heh .... realistically, there's nothing the NRSC can do to help O'Donnell win and she & her supporters can't do themselves. The NRSC is not particularly competent.

I do wonder if they'll double down on Illinois and funnel $6M+ to Kirk's race.

I’m pissed too, but when you think about it, it is going to take several elections to clean out Rhinos within the party,
particularly in the Senate. We’re making good progress..

I know I’m going to get flamed, but here goes anyway. I spend a great deal of time at Free Republic, even though some folks who post here give me a very hard time.

I loved/love President Bush, for example, despite the hard time he got from nearly everyone here.

Someone needs to explain to me the following difference. When those on this site go to great lengths to point out that RINOs like John McCain are very, very far to their left, that seems to meet with lots of applause.

When the McCains and Murkowskis and Roves of the world point out that the the Tea Party and Freepers of the world are very far to their right, they get scorn and ridicule.

I truly don’t understand the difference.

What the NRSC is doing here is despicable. What Crist has done in FL is desipicable. What Murkowski is contemplating in AL is despicable. I get all that.

But I want to point out that there is little difference between folks here pointing out that much of the party is to their left Versus those who you are singling out pointing to the fact that you all are well to their right.

There are a lot of folks out there, myself included, who have strong principles and yet hold views that sometimes fall in one camp, sometimes fall in the other, and most often fall inbetween. As a simple empirical matter, I have for a decade or more always found myself cheering on the more conservative candidate. Always. So while I fail a litmus test or two or three ... I seem inclined a very specific way.

Having said this, I hate the finger pointing and the divisions. I think the Tea Partiers and Freepers have better manners. I think the TPs and Freepers are more principled, more often play by the rules (e.g., if you lose the primary, for goodness sake, go home!), etc.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think that there is huge ground for improvement and more tolerance of opposing views. The NRSC is flat out wrong. But two wrongs do not make a right.

Calling a second time - no answer either time.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM - what do you suppose they’re in a meeting about? Why do you suppose they’re not answering the phone?

Just got through on my second call after letting it ring about 20 times and talked with some receptionist/staffer who told me ‘we’re not allowed to give out information about strategy’ - when I mentioned the Mike Castle was still listed on their website he said ‘that’s because the election was yesterday.’ When I asked if they would still support Mike Castle (I was in his face) - he said, ‘well, he lost the election, and he won’t be running as a Republican.’

You should have heard his tail between his legs puppy dog approach with me, as he took my statement. I went on and on about how Christine O’Donnell is the Republican nominee from the good state of Deleware, and you can’t tell me that you’re going to support her?

At one point I said to him, ‘Are you taking notes?’ and he dutifully said, ‘yes.’

Call, Call, Call!!

Bruce

“Heh .... realistically, there’s nothing the NRSC can do to help O’Donnell win and she & her supporters can’t do themselves. The NRSC is not particularly competent.”

One thing they have is money - maybe not as much as they’ve had in the past, but if they want to survive as an organization tied to the GOP, they’d best get their acts together. O’Donnell could certainly use cash to fund advertising. Who knows though, perhaps you’re right and we should just shun the NRSC altogether.

Funny thing, when I went to their homepage, they had Rand Paul’s profile up on the top...hmmm...twisted machinations going on over there? They also have Joe Miller’s campaign listed - and yes, Mike Castle still listed...!
