WHY CANDIDATES CANNOT TRUST THE NATIONAL GOP
Vanity ^ | 6 12 2009 | Dick Bachert

Posted on 09/16/2010 8:20:02 AM PDT by Dick Bachert

I have posted this to a number of threads where it was germaine to the topic. Yesterday, a fellow Freeper suggested that, with a CRITICAL election coming up on 11/2, it merited its own thread. So, here it is. Have at it!! :-))

*****************************************

Over the years – when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger man’s clothes – I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) – because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larry’s record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the Pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mother’s cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name – and his incredible resolve and love of this country.)

Those other candidates ran as Republicans. Because I was a rabid Bircher back then (still am philosophically!), those candidates had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club Pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes.

As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local Pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign “professionals” ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.

Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these “professionals” proceeded to TORPEDO our guy’s campaign in subtle but effective ways.

From that experience I can tell you that the Pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.

If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2010 and 2012 and beyond – and I pray many of you do -- please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they suggest sending in one of their “professionals,” tell them to fuggetaboutit.

They ARE WHO GOT US INTO THIS MESS AND THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!!

"The common and continual mischief of the spirit of Party is sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it." G. Washington

WHY CANDIDATES CONSERVATIVE VOTERS CANNOT TRUST THE NATIONAL GOP

What the bad guys are hoping for is the GOP, in greater power after 2010(at least enough to be be blamed) will do what they do best: fumble the friggin' ball.

The ObamaCRATS figure they'll be around in 2012 to pick up the fumble and score a touchdown.

Our only hope: Elect true conservatives, not RINOS. RINOS will guarantee an ObamaCRAT victory in 2012.

When the GOP “leadership” decided to go “big tent”, the GOP started the process of being nothing other than a party out for party victory. A Stand for Nothing policy. Wobble whatever way the polls seem to indicate.

The position of the DNC today is that of the radical enemy loving flith of the hard commiescum left a decade ago. The position of the GOP is that of the DNC a decade ago. The slide toward the cultural destructionists will only accelerate unless the track is blown the hell up.

Sorry if my post diverts the discussion a bit - didn’t mean to do that even though I think it’s germane. The non-conservative side of the GOP is the political reason for Obama and all this other stuff.

You give them far more credit than I do. My view is they would rather have a Democrat win than risk a rise from the ranks of the GOP that will threaten their power within the party.

Rove was on America's Newsroom this morning and quadrupled down of his bashing of O'Donnell. Neither Hemmer or McCallum questioned him about his working for and support of Castle. Rove has lost tons of “friends” in the conservative movement! What an asshole!

The most frightening statement in politics? “I’m from the GOP and I’m here to help.”

Will the sheople independents or moderates follow the tea party or conservatives without having the MSM telling them where to go? Even though MSM TV news ratings stink, together they are misinforming the general public and not reporting the truth. Especially when the sheople watch the morning and evening news.

Speaking of the GOP; is Michael Steele’s picture still adorning milk cartons across America?

All of my experience in the last twenty years completely confirms everything you’re saying.

I’ve been telling everyone who will listen the same things for a very long time.

It’s now out in the open.

Thank God.

It’s a start.

I’ll probably get flamed for this, but I’m hearing a lot of self-imposed amnesia. Doesn’t anyone remember the “Contract With America” a few short years ago? All those “conservative” firebrands who took over the Congress along with Newt Gingrich? How long did it take for them to drink the Kool-Aid? The best thing to have come out of that ballot box “revolution” was ironically Bill Clinton signing the Welfare Reform Act. The worst was a deaf, dumb, and blind CIA which led to 9/11. Remember Porter Goss and his short-lived attempt to “clean out” the agency? I think it lasted about one week before the entire circus tent folded in on him. “Bloodless” revolutions make great headlines and sell advertising, but they don’t get the job done. It didn’t then, and it won’t now. “Pied pipers” and the cult of personality may sell movies and Americans are very comfortable with those things, as our adversaries know and exploit, but they won’t rescue a nation in distress. Call me a fatalist, but at some point after the ballot box “high” wears off, and the smoke clears, and the “pied pipers” have broken attendance records, the American people are once again going to have to reconcile themselves to reality. The Kool-Aid in D.C. will have been passed around and the “freshmen” will have partaken of it. For those who will refuse to drink, we will be treated to a series of scandals and disclosures leading to their “resignations”. Remember the Republican Party is quick to fall on its sword, it has such an exaggerated sense of loyalty to Marquis of Queensbury Rules. So, the eight hundred pound elephant in the room will remain: Is serfdom and a total loss of sovereignty and liberty a fair price to pay for keeping all of our little comforts, and being told by the Supreme Court that Sharia law and the U.N. really have our best interests at heart?

Excellent point and one that’s been on my mind lately as well. But since we are eventually going to have a real revolution, one with real shooting and bloodshed, we might as well give the peaceful revolution one more shot. If the Washington elite cannot see what is coming, then they deserve to reap the whirlwind.
