Karl Rove the top GOP strategist who declared last week that Christine ODonnells surprise victory does little good for the party is now calling on the surprise Senate nominee to explain her comments about witchcraft.
"In southern Delaware where there are a lot of churchgoing people, they're going to want to know what that is all about, the former aide to President George W. Bush told "Fox News Sunday."
My view is she cant simply ignore it, he said. Shes got to deal with it and explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on.
ODonnell uttered the comments in question during a 1999 appearance on the now-canceled show Politically Incorrect, saying then, I dabbled into witchcraft I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft.
The 11-year-old interview was dug up Friday by liberal comedian Bill Maher the former host of Politically Incorrect. During the 1999 appearance, ODonnell also described one of her first dates with a witch on a satanic altar.
A spokesman for the ODonnell campaign did not respond to CNNs request for comment.
She cant simply say, Oh these are unfactual, and not true,' and just ignore them, Rove also said. I dont think the people of Delaware have or are accepting that as a reasonable explanation.
Citing exhaustion and scheduling conflicts, ODonnell canceled her plans over the weekend to appear on both "Fox News Sunday" and CBS "Face the Nation" a move Rove called a smart decision.
She shouldnt have accepted in the first place, he said. Its Delaware voters, not conservatives across the country who will determine the outcome of this election
and there is, as I say, resistance.

Keep watching the news.
I’m going to throw a cherry pie into Tokyo Rove’s face. I’m prepared to spend a few days in jail. no biggie.
She's probably the better of two evils...
How about a campaign slogan?
>>> You know, at least Judas had enough shame to go and hang himself.
Rove doesnt like my political candidate so he should kill himself. What a good christian you are. The angels must be so proud.
****************
Angels are neither my judge nor my advocate. Nor are you.
The fact remains that vessels for destruction . . . are destroyed. The fact also remains that Judas - accursed - evidenced more shame than Karl Rove.
He's gonna be "right" even if he's NOT.
It's all over the net. Here is a link to it and her response today:
Bill Mahers witch hunt and the missing context for ODonnells remarks
>>> She’s probably the better of two evils... How about a campaign slogan?
You know the funny thing is something like this was done once, and it worked. David Duke had gotten the republican nomination for some office (governor?) and the republicans quickly pushed through a campaign to endorse the corrupt democrat Edwin Edwards.
The slogan used was “Vote For the Crook. It’s Important.”, and Vote for the Lizard, not the Wizard.”
Sometimes truth in advertising pays off.
“O’Donnell, the better of two evils”
Karl Rove must explain his temper tantrum over O’Donnell’s winning the primary. What’s your real motive, Karl?
I used to like Rove...however he now is driving me crazy with his stupid comments about O’Donnell. What is he after ?
Didn’t Ms. Nixon have seances in the White House? And it has been rumored that Lincoln dabbed in the occult as well..
But really, who hasn’t been intrigued by the dark side at least once in their life? You could say you “dabbled” in witchcraft if you used a Ouija Board....
Rove has an agenda...
Rove is a member of the elite ruling class. He does not want a conservative Senate that will control spending and limit the pork intake of his fellow elitists.
Good post, however, there is a difference between grieving the Holy Spirit and Quenching the Holy Spirit.
In the former, one is merely acting independently of God and His Plan, choosing not to use what He has provided.
In the latter, one is not merely working independently of God and His Plan, but attacking Him and His Plan.
We were all condemned prior to salvation, but our natural state from the Garden is enmity towards the Adversary, not complacency.
Witchcraft reveals a further degenerate thinking than simply agnosticism, atheism, or many other false gods.
In both scenarios that you give, the people are in rebellion against God. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. God makes not distinction and there are no ‘degrees’ of sin.
In some ways, FR is like a support group. I think we're all recovering from something.
You gotta be kidding me, Rove is still on the attack of a GOP Candidate?
Becuase I went to public schools. Then I grew up and rubbed shoulders with some teachers. There are probably more dysfunctional people per capita in that profession than in, say, selling used cars.
it could have been a few idiot teenagers fascinated with witch craft from reading about it.
...or from teachers turning them on to it.
We all(well most of us)went to public schools, that doesn’t mean a teacher did it. Besides the whole subject is BS, she was a teenager doing stupid sh** the way teenagers do.
Of course it doesn't. It was a tangential point. But the fact of teachers abusing their position and influence children in the wrong way is a subject that is well worth discussion. It has been said, for example, that there are more children sexually abused by teachers in the NYC public school system in one year than in the entire history of the priest abuse scandal. And yet, it never seems to be the time to discuss that.
And finally, teenagers don't do such "stupid things" unless someone shows them how to. You say, "another teenager did." Sure. And where did that other teenager see it. Somewhere along the line, an adult is involved - on that the teenager trusts.
Nowadays, they can find all manner of perverse influence on the net, on TV, whatever. Back in the day, it wasn't so.
I would bet money a teacher didn’t get her interested in witch craft. Give it up, you are starting to sound over the top on the subject. I don’t like public schools either, that’s why my grand daughter is home schooled, but to attribute a teenagers curiosity for the supernatural to a teacher without a shred of proof is just idiotic and slightly unhinged.
Agreed.
Our natural state is enmity towards God, not towards the Adversary:
Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
But Praise the Lord for one of HIS wonderful 'buts' in the Bible:
Romans 6:17-18 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Satan will drag us into hell by whatever means he can use. If he can use a person's indifference, or active rebellion - it doesn't matter. Just as long as he can keep us from Worshiping the True God and our Saviour. Satan will even use religiosity (following the form and traditions of worship - and not the Spirit and heart) - if that's what it takes to damn a person.
So I agree with you - Rebellion is rebellion (and as you appropriately noted: "Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft"...).
Satan will use whatever means he can to destroy a person.
