America is known as the Great Melting Pot.
But a closer look at census data shows we're a lot closer to a dinner plate with the peas here, carrots here, potatoes here, and steak over there. In other words, a very high level of racial segregation.
This cool series of maps was produced by Eric Fischer, based on a map of Chicago from Bill Rankin's Radical Cartography.
Red represents white people, blue is black, green is Asian, and orange is Hispanic, and each dot is 25 people.

Everyone seeks a society of people who think and act somewhat like themselves.
are we allowd to say “COLORED” ?
Once again proving the old Birds of a Feather proverb.
Facts are racist.
Well if it's good enough for the NAACP, then it's good enough for me.
RE: are we allowd to say COLORED ?
Knock yourself out, it’s a free country ( or at least it used to be ... )
Note: Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, and Orange is Hispanic, and each dot is 25 people.

I’d like to see how they match up with maps of high crime areas.
The radical left rules our cities, and the radical left exists to drive wedges between people. If all the minorities, special interest groups, social classes were to become one people called Americans, they might get to thinking in terms of the best interests of America, and that would be the end of the radical left.
I guarantee there won’t be many white people in South Dallas either.
What about people from India & Pakistan ? Aren't there a lot of them ? Don't they count ?
Or maybe, they're politically diverse and don't vote as a "block" ?
And why not use pink for whites, black for blacks, yellow for asians, red for American indians, and brown for hispanics ?
Geez the whitest cities are San Fran, Seattle and the Twin Cities. They also happen to be the dark blue dem towns. I wonder why?
Makes gerrymandering by race easier doesn’t it?
RE: What about people from India & Pakistan ? Aren’t there a lot of them ? Don’t they count ?
I guess they are all lumped into the catch-all term — Asian.
We are all COLORED now!
It’ll be again so long as we deny that they can tell us what to say and not say; what to think and what not to think.
That said, I did not find some of the cities they said were mixed to be much different from the others.
The title “extreme segregation” smacks of someone evil doing gerrymandering to ensure this happens.
Nothing is further from the truth, since many, many years ago.
People have free will for a long time now and they all have preferences to be around people like themselves.
The term “segregation” is used to ominously denote racial preferences, and it smacks of the author wishing to show this which it does not.
It would be interesting to see these maps laid over with mass transit lines too. We used to say back in the 60s in Atlanta where we had a white doughnut surrounding a black center that the whites commuted downtown in the morning and the blacks went to the suburbs to work and then everyone switched back in the evening. MARTA was said to be Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta.
Someone said that the most segragated places in the US are churches and barber shops.
Boy, ain't that the truth. Look how electing Obama has thrown the visible light spectrum out of whack!
As an ametuer geographer, this is really cool.
Thanks for posting this.
It would have been nice to overlay subdivision labels and major highways, to give it a little more definition.
But pretty cool.
You are black, and I am white
Life's an Eskimo Pie, let's.. take a bite!
That was groovy thinkin'
Lincoln, when you set them freeeeeee...
We all know
Cats are the same
Maine to Mexico.
Guys and chicks!
I am dark, and you are light.
You are blind as a bat, and I have sight!
Side by side, you are my amigo,
Negro, let's not fiiiiiiiight!
My neighborhood in Flower Mound, which is considered an upper-middle class area of the Metroplex, has a lot of diversity in terms of race, there are at least three black families up the street and on the street right next to me, there are also Hispanic families, and also families of professionals who came here from India. It’s not about race, it’s about the values, and we all share the same values, and that’s what matters.
Would be interesting to see this chart for Detroit. The City of Detroit (everything south of 8-mile) is around 90% black. One of the newspapers there analyzed census data for the 5 largest suburbs, and out of a total population of 500,000 they could only identify about 5000 black families. Those are Apartheid South Africa type numbers.
I think the only time a lot of whites are in downtown Detroit is for Red Wings games.
Can you find Hamtramck?
I see the Asians smartly hang with the whiteys
I’m one neighborhood away from that red one.
Detroit is no longer a livable city. It is in fact, dying. From a peak of over 2 Million people, what we have now is a city of about 900,000. Over a million have fled the city.
Close to 30% of the city’s residential area is VACANT.
Certain parts of the city look like a war zone and the new Mayor, former NBA great, Dave Bing is proposing razing parts of the city (where buildings are abandoned and in dis-repair) and replacing them with “green” zones.
The sad thing is this city used to be vibrant with life, business and culture ( remember MOTOWN ?).
Interesting article on Detroit :
TITLE : RAZING THE CITY TO SAVE THE CITY.
That Detroit map would be more accurate if included dots for Middle-Easterns.
Hold on for a second and I’ll post the two side by side and more or less equally sized.
Just re-use the same map:
Lowest crime=red (the occasional blue dot in a red area is a criminal)
Interesting! Thanks for posting.
I think you're asking a rhetorical question.
But in case you're not, allow me to answer:
The colors in question have been changed for the same reason that on the presidential election maps, about three election cycles ago the MSM changed the color of the Dhimmis from red to blue -- while they changed the 'Pubs from blue to red.
In other words, all for the sake of politically correct ideology.
You mean rich whites live in segregated communities of wealthy and lefty whites, asians, and token blacks and hispanics? Redlining in Chicago, I’m... I can’t even feign suprise.
Someone, get a map of Manhattan.
