Bono's anti-poverty foundation ONE is under pressure to explain its lavish salaries after it was revealed that only a small percentage of money it raises reaches the needy. The non-profit organisation set up by the U2 frontman received almost £9.6m in donations in 2008 but handed out only £118,000 to good causes (1.2 per cent).

The figures published by the New York Post also show that £5.1m went towards paying salaries.

I’m willing to bet that there’s no one person right now who knows exactly what every arm of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is doing and where all those billions are going.

It’s probably true that Bill & Melinda went in with no idea what they wanted to accomplish—beyond some nebulous do-gooder ideals—probably the malaria thing and some of the educational stuff. The rest is standard PC charity boilerplate. I’m starting to understand how the conservative givers like Olin Foundation, the Coors and Koch Brothers have accomplished so much more with their carefully targeted millions.

For Bono and Ali’s own picture of their African philanthropy, check out:

It’s a vulgar, ostenstatious (and presumably tax-deductible) display of wealth.

Maybe the 1% actually does some good. But why would anybody think a phote of Bono and Ali flying around Africa in private aircraft, stolling in a scenic African landscape, dressed in haute couture, and carrying designer accessories inspires a philanthropic urge in others?

It’s just baffling to me.

Liberals are generally cheap bastards so there is little news here.

Why do you think Klinton calls his Haitian aid origanization a ‘’foundation’’?

Yep, they set up those scam trust foundations as a tax dodge while the money is available to them. Most of these things never help anybody but the person who has the trust or foundation. I hardly donate anymore because they are pretty much scams.

I use to like my LV purse, but after seeing this, it’s going on the shelf.

These lefties are disgusting.

Me too. Let’s face it; the people that like to refer to themselves as elites are nothing but common thugs.

My favorite Bono story ...

Bono, lead singer of the rock band U2, is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous.

At a recent U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for total quiet.

Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone, “Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”

From the front of the crowd a voice with a broad Scottish accent pierced the quiet ...

“Well, fuckin stop doin it then, ya evil bastard!”

OMG, that is funny. At least someone had the guts to call out this egomaniac.
