Over 200,000 People Leave Mexican Border City Due to Violence
Latin American Herald Tribune ^ | Sept. 26, 2010 | Latin American Herald Tribune

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – Some 230,000 people have left Ciudad Juarez, a border city that has become Mexico’s murder capital, in the past three years as the death toll from a gang war topped 7,000, a non-governmental organization said in a new report.

About 124,000 people, or 53.9 percent of the total, have sought safe haven in El Paso, Texas, which is just across the border, the Ciudad Juarez Citizens Security and Coexistence Observatory said.

The rest have returned to their hometowns, mainly in Durango, Coahuila and Veracruz states, to get away from the drug-related violence.

“Action should be taken immediately” to keep the crime and violence from leading to a “loss of economic dynamism and, in turn, a continuing reproduction of violence and crime as a result of unemployment,” the report’s authors, Ramon Chavira and Wilebaldo Martinez, said.

The two Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez, or UACJ, professors used National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics, or INEGI, figures, as well as interviews with emigrants’ families, to come up with the population trend figures for the border city.

Ciudad Juarez is the scene of a war for control of smuggling routes between the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels.

The border city, where more than 2,000 people have been murdered this year, has been plagued by drug-related violence for years.

More than 20,000 houses have been abandoned in the border city by people who feared they might become murder, extortion or kidnapping victims, Ciudad Juarez Mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz said.

Journalists have also been leaving the border city in recent years due to threats.

Jorge Luis Aguirre, publisher of the online daily La Polaka, was granted political asylum on Monday, U.S. officials said.

Aguirre fled to the United States with his family on Nov. 13, 2008, just hours after El Diario de Juarez reporter Armando Rodriguez was murdered.

Rodriguez was murdered in front of his 9-year-old daughter outside his house.

Luis Carlos Santiago, a 21-year-old El Diario news photographer, was killed last week and his colleague, Carlos Sanchez, was wounded in an attack by suspected cartel hit men.

Paris-based Reporters Without Borders said in a statement Friday that it was “appalled” by the killing, adding that the “level of violence and mayhem is staggering in many parts of Mexico including Cuidad Juarez.”

El Paso’s Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, meanwhile, warned of a likely new wave of media members seeking asylum in the United States in the wake of the attack on the photographers.

“I think they want to silence the voices of the reporters, who are the ones on the front lines. As an organization, we are going to support these types of situations,” Eduardo Beckett, an immigration attorney at the center, said.

“We are receiving a huge number of calls. We’re really busy, but we are going to do everything possible to help deal with this. It’s an international crisis,” Beckett said.

The flow of people from Juarez to El Paso started in 2007, press reports said.

The death toll from the drug war in Ciudad Juarez reached 8,300 between December 2006 and July 2010. EFE

About 124,000 people, or 53.9 percent of the total, have sought safe haven in El Paso, Texas,...

I guarantee that more than one elitist politician in Washington is seeing this as nothing more than another 124,000 possible votes for their party.

If Mexico is so great, why are you maggot 3rd Worlders flocking here?

See #18 and your federal government for that answer.

Hell, the Communist told us all about this decades ago.

They are liberals for the most part thus they are coming here to drag the rest of us down to their level.

The situation would be less orderly if the Leftists had won the last national elections, and ALL of these journalists, and their families, would have been murdered in their beds.

Mexico has an armed conflict underway ~ we should organize a Mexican National Army of Liberation along the border out of the young men who've fled and then send them back to do your basic "house to house" extermination of the bad guys.

I see Mexico becoming the next Pockeystawn. A place of refuge for the invaders to run to once the war starts in the southwestern states of America. The politicians in Congress will pass a resolution that our military will not be allowed to chase them as they retreat back into Mexico to rearm and regroup. The American southwest is about to become “another Vietnam”, Iraq or Afghanistan.

I got an idea. Instead of trading guns for drugs, why can't the cia and other interested agencies, and Ollie North in particular, start sending guns to the patriot citizens in Mexico who want to clean up their towns? It wouldn't take long to sweep up the garbage if evey man jack and women and child had select fire AK's.

Yeah. A better use of those airplanes and cigarette boats, eh, Ollie?

Can I be honest here?

Ya got probably 100 million people in America today that hate you and this country...

Throw in endless chain immigration, both legal and illegal, and eventually America will be left dead on the floor. The party is getting way too crowded, and only a matter of time till the party is over, and the house is left totally trashed.

Look at your public government school employees and teachers...They hate America and everything it stands for, as they brainwash generation after generation that America bad, white people bad, Communism, Socialism good.

In America, we're surrounded by traitors and your government has been completely infiltrated and is on their side.

Not a bad idea...Mexico needs the second amendment. But I haven’t seen any of them wanting to change the mess down there, instead they march in our streets demanding our laws be ignored.

Well, that's really the plan, isn't it? Why else would Bush hand over the gummint to a muzzie who wasn't afraid to deliver the coup de gras? Exactly what's happening, non?

There must be some way we can circumvent those plans. It isn't going to be done at the ballot box when you have both parties singing the socialist theme song.

Dear B: Satan has taken over Mexico, and it has also taken over America. I don’t know if you are a Christian or not, but Christ gave those of us who are the power to cast out evil in His Holy Name. It is time Americans repent and turn from their many sins to turn to our Creator Who gave His only begotten Son to pay the price for your sins and mine. What greater love can there be than that? And when we have done that, we open our hearts to Him who suffered so enormously for us, and live our lives in Him. Then we can defeat Satan at every turn! If one’s prayers have such power, think how unbeatable the prayers of all His children can be!
Have a great week.

PHONY CHRISTIANS

It’s not just pandering politicians you need to purge, it’s the leaders of your so called ‘Christian’ churches like the Catholics, Mormons and Lutherans who aid and abet the illegality of immigration that you need to deal with!

Illegal alien convicted of raping his foster mom in Virginia

(Understand this....the CHURCH set up foster care for an 18 year old ILLEGAL alien gangbanger! THEY broke the law!)

On Wednesday, Arturo Lopez, 18, was convicted of abducting and raping his foster mother in Henrico County, last April. She testified that she mentioned concerns to church people and Lutheran Family Services, which had placed Lopez with the family.[snips]

Doctrinal divide confronts Mormons on immigration

By Jeremiah Stettler The Salt Lake Tribune

[snips]Here in Utah, the push toward tougher immigration laws has become increasingly tangled in Mormon doctrine as divided Latter-day Saints defend their politics by pointing to conflicting interpretations of what Jesus would do. But other Mormons see it differently and point to doctrine to back it up.

Rep. Chris Herrod, R-Provo, maintains the arguments against tougher immigration laws overlook several key Christian tenets — precepts that came off of Mount Sinai with Moses. Thou shalt not bear false witness (to get a job or government services). Thou shalt not steal (people’s identities). Thou shalt not covet (thy neighbor’s home or job or country).

They touch on holy writ’s repeated call for honesty (“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just ... think on these things,” Philippians 4:8 teaches), on the importance of justice (“Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap,” Galatians 6:7 admonishes) and on the LDS instruction to abide civil law (“We believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for their acts in relation to them,” Doctrine and Covenants 134:1 states).

Herrod says his position also has been shaped, in part, by a doctrine found in Acts 10 and Romans 2: “God is no respecter of persons.” In other words, God doesn’t pick favorites. Would it really make sense, Herrod asks, for God to “reward those willing to break the law over those who are willing to stand in line and do the right thing?”

“We are actually discriminating against ten of millions of people around the world who are trying to get to the country legally,” he says. “They are following the law.....I can’t, in my wildest dreams, believe that the church would come out and say illegal immigration is OK,” he says. “That would completely violate all the basic doctrines of the church.”

Hunters cautioned about Mexican Drug Cartel

September 25, 2010 7:44 AM
Katie Conner / KTVL.com

Local and Federal law enforcement and Oregon Hunters Association are warning hunters about the marijuana growth sites in the forest operated by Mexican Drug Cartels.

A joint press conference was held Friday with the various agencies, to provide safety tips for the public.

“The cartel is like a drug warehouse and they will anything they can do to make money,” said Sheriff Winters.

Winters says the best way to stay safe is to know your surroundings, noticing if anything seems unusual. For example, trimmed or manicured trees, walls of cut brush, canopies handing in the trees, are all signs. Also, pvc pipes coming out of streams is also an indication you are in a growth site. The growers most likely use the pipes for irrigation for the pot plants. Manually widened game trails, garbage piles are also signs and you should leave the area immediately.

Within the past two weeks, two archer hunters have been confronted by suspected pot growers who were armed. If you are confronted by a suspected grower, just walk away. Winters says they typically do not want to hurt you, instead scare you off.

“We have serious problem out there. You hear people say oh they’re just poor farmers or just marijuana growers,” said Sheriff Winters. “This drug is the number one cartel drug eight million dollars a year to the cartel.”

According to Winters, law enforcement has uprooted 125,000 marijuana plants in 30 different gardens. Each plant is worth $5,000.

“It’s a big business for them down there and they’ll do anything,” said Winters.

People who see anything unusual or suspicious in the forest are being asked to call local police.

Oh dear B; These old eyes do not see well anymore. You see, I was not writing about phony Christians, of which there are far, far too many, I agree. I am referring to true Christians. How we break the very heart of God when we do not love and obey Him! However, it is not up to us to minimize the ecumenical importance of churches. We are to be good examples, and allow them to fail by their own hand. IMHO, the day we strayed from the old Fire and Brimstone preaching is the day we began to go wrong. If people would take the time to open their Bible and become engrossed in the Word, their paths would be so illuminated!
In WW II, they said there were no atheists in foxholes. Well, B, we are in a foxhole today!
