While speculation has wielded mostly around senior advisor Pete Rouse as White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel's replacement should he run for mayor of Chicago, CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer went on the record Tuesday with another pick-- former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle.
"The president could do worse than Tom Daschle," Schieffer said. "I'm not in the business of advising presidents on who to hire or what to do, but he would be a very interesting choice."
"Chiefs of staff make an enormous difference in any White House- Republican or Democrat," Schieffer told CBS News' Jan Crawford in an appearance on "Washington Unplugged" Tuesday. Daschle "really knows the Hill and really knows the issues."

To get anything done in 2011...there needs to be someone advising the President who can negotiate. If Daschle can’t demonstrate that talent...then this is pretty much a wasted effort and just something to get him up to primary season of 2012.
But Bob! Didn’t he practice witchcraft when he was a kid? You better check him out real good!
Why not bring Trent Lott back, as well.
After all they both “shared power”, even when the GOP had a majority in the senate. Tiny Tom and Trent Lott...what a pair.

I wouldnt be the least bit shocked if this actually happens. Tom “thumb” Daschle is tiny, hyper-partisan, socialist and would make a good ballerina. He fits in perfectly.
