I loved The Great Race when I was little. Rented it on Netflix for my kids this summer and they loved it.

Hilarious. I have the recording on her retrospective album back in the ‘90s. I saw her concert in NYC in 2004 - I think that was the year - and she said she wanted to sing “Miss Marmelstein” but Penny Marshall told her during rehearsals that it wasn’t working. So she nixed it! Can you imagine her listening to Laverne???

And of course - when she was on b’way, she sang the song sitting in a chair.

He was in three of my favorite movies, “The Vikings”. “The Greagt Race”, and Operation Petticoat”

I read he had a real soft spot for “Operation Petticoat”, because he always wanted to serve on a submarine, and always wanted to make a movie with Cary Grant.Curtis enlisted in the Navy in WW II, volunteered for, and graduated from Sub School. He was assigned, however, to a sub tender. He witnessed the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay from his ship.

RIP

Tony Curtis was from The Bronx, not Brooklyn. The accents are very similar.

I thought he died about 20 years ago.

Well, rest in peace, Stony Curtis.

speaks with a Brooklyn accent.

Not likely a Brooklyn accent.

Curtis was born Bernard Schwartz in the Bronx, New York, the son of Emanuel Schwartz and his wife Helen Klein.[1][2] His parents were Hungarian Jewish immigrants from Mátészalka, Hungary. Hungarian was Curtis' only language until he was five or six, postponing his schooling.

I think it was sweet of you to think of her father when you saw her. I guess I was typing because I didn’t see her during DWTS.

Most folks do not know that Tony Curtis was a great painter. His paintings are famous all over the world. I saw some of his works displayed in galleries in Honolulu and Maui. Below is a copy of one painting. Click on the image. Other links are provided as well:

JMPO -- But I believe Curtis may ultimately become more famous for his art than for his acting.
