RENO, Nev. (AP) — Veteran state Sen. Bill Raggio, one of Nevada's most influential Republicans over the last four decades, says he's reluctantly endorsing Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's re-election campaign.

Raggio issued a statement Thursday sharply criticizing GOP candidate Sharron Angle, branding her as a "totally ineffective" four-term state lawmaker.

Raggio also cited what he called Angle's inability and unwillingness to work with others even within her own party, and her extreme positions on Social Security and other issues.

Look, he’s an old fossil.
First elected in 1972 and he’s personally soured by Sharron Angle who wouldn’t put up with his nonsense.

Bill Raggio is not a Republican. He should leave the GOP immediately.

Extreme anti-Constitutionalists are guilty of treason. They should be totally ostracized, boycotted, blacklisted and dis-fellowshipped.

That means I’ll have to make another donation to Angle.

Um, yeah.. that is why she won the primary. She won't compromise for the sake of compromise. I have no idea if she is good bad or indifferent but it doesn't take rocket science to understand why she is where she is. Enough people on the right were tired of compromising with the left and/or governing from the center.

Now is the time for the right side of the aisle to stand and fight. If it works, politics could change for a generation or longer. And this is the best chance to do it in a generation. Anyone who doesn't understand that doesn't understand politics, and certainly doesn't understand what is happening in American politics.

Angle’s long time pastor also came out today calling Mormons a cult, playing the religion card against Reid. As much as Mormons don’t like Reid, this isn’t going to do any favors with the large population of Mormons in Nevada.

Her pastor is certainly not helping her.

Did you see ‘The Godfather, Part II’, where they show the Corleones entertaining Nevada politicians? This guy was in that scene.

I don’t want someone who is “effective”. I want someone who will say no to the Obama agenda.

Actually, it might.

Anyone who has followed Nevada politics for long knows that Raggio is a RINO @$$, who frequently caves into the liberal agenda far too easily.

I’ve wished him out of the party for years.

Maybe this will be his final bray!

Raggio defeated Angle two years ago in a bitter GOP primary.

Opinions voided after this disclosure at the end.

“Effective” in this guy’s context means “able to channel as much taxpayer money as possible towards their district”.

From the point of view of the standard pork-loving pol, someone like Angle is a sideshow freak.
