Congressional candidate George Gaulrapp has been selling himself as a "conservative Democrat" ever since he declared support for Barack Obama in the summer of 2007. The problem is that like so many operating under that label, he wants to do the "I'm pro-life personally but..." tap dance.
At a recent Tea Party panel in Huntley, Gaulrapp performed this tap dance, but then added something...well, if you'll forgive the term, "extraordinary." Gaulrapp mentions that he is an extraordinary minister, which means he is able to deliver communion to fellow Catholics who are unable to attend mass. To hear his explanation, go to Heartland Radio and listen for yourself, and consider the radio host's commentary. The clip is on the August 29th broadcast (scroll down) and is the first topic in the show.
Heartland Radio broke this story, but my attention was brought to it by the fine folks at Prolife Corner.
Thanks. Happilly it’s safe seat for the GOP.
Obama did become the first rat President to carry it in forever but Manzullo is in no danger from this jerk.
Never mind. You’re right. I suspect Crystal Lake and maybe Belvidere did us in.
“Canon 915, one of the canons of the current Code of Canon Law, forbids the administration of Holy Communion to those upon whom the penalty of excommunication or interdict[1] has been imposed or declared or who persist in manifest grave sin.” Manifest and persistent support for abortion to any degree means excommunication.
And that’s Ogle and Lee that went for McCain. Winnebago was 55% for Obummer.
I don’t think Franklin Roosevelt even carried that district. It’s only had 1 dem congressman (elected in 1990 over a Republican with problems and defeated by Manzullo 2 years later) in modern times.
The pro-abort Chicago archdiocese is seeping into the adjacent archdiocese of Rockford it appears.
The list of Catholic religous in political office is quite large. My friend Sister Marcy Kaptur of the Alinsky/Egan wing left Chicago Archdiocese to be a congressperson from Ohio.
St Hubert’s Deacon Fred Crespo is a State Rep.
I suppose the list could get quite long.
That’s not what I meant.
The Black Pope, as in the Spanish version.
Sorry, no habla. Can you elaborate?
He’ll lose. I posted his campaign funding levels upthread...he’s only raised $65,000 compared to $731,000 for the Republican. In 2008, the Dem raised over $500,000.
And that's before we factor in that Manzullo won going away in '08, or factor in the fact that he has outraised Gaulrapp over ten to one.
Rockford (the city proper has about 25% of the voters in the district) with it’s black minority turning out in elevated numbers is obviously the reason why Obama carried Winnebago county.

Nice Presidential atlas with the country breakdown (I don’t have the city numbers but Rockford must have voted Obama by a greater margin that the rest of the county, McCain may have even won the rest of the county)
Note that site uses blue for Republican and red for the commies.
They’re another segment of the Vatican which Pope JP tried to abolish in ‘86.
No, he’s a garden variety RC. Goes to a church here in twon that has an excellent prolife pastor.
No, he’s a garden variety RC. Goes to a church in Freeport that has an excellent prolife pastor.
Ok, that’s great to know but I always watch to see where they “are” in the Church.
I’m a RoCat myself & it’s our church.
I agree. Manzullo hasn’t had a touch race since his first one. He is in no danger.
And that is district is still Republican despite being carried by democrats who win statewide landslides (that’s the only time they carry it).
Touch=tough
That is if you consider winning by 11 over a single term fluke democrat to be tough. ;d
