O’Donnell Outpaces Coons in Fund-raising (2 to 1)
The Wall Street Journal/Washington Wire ^ | October 15, 2010 | Brody Mullins

Christine O’Donnell, Delaware’s Republican Senate candidate, surprised her Democratic opponent, Chris Coons, by raising more than twice as much money in the three months ending Sept. 30, according to the campaigns.

O’Donnell also has twice as much money in the bank for the final stretch of the campaign.

O’Donnell’s campaign and Federal Election Commission records show that the Republican raised $3.9 million in July, August and September; Coons reported raising $1.5 million.

She also ended the quarter with a bigger bank balance — $2.6 million – compared with Coons’s $1.3 million, fund-raising reports show. O’Donnell was the upset winner of a Republican primary in August, beating Republican Rep. Michael Castle, who was considered a shoo-in for the Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden and President Barack Obama traveled to Wilmington, Del., today for a fund-raiser for Coons.

Internal Dem polling must show Coons in trouble, so Obie and Joe to the rescue. No other obvious explanation... Dems can't afford to lose this one. In fact, all quarters will be embarrassed when CO'D wins. Rinos, Dems, even conservative media.

I'm sending mo' money !

“I wonder how much of that money is fron DE residents and businesses”.

As it happens, because DE is the 3rd least populated state and the smallest state YET our senators have the same voting power as any of the 98 other senators, our candidates always tend to get a load of out of state dollars. We rely on them even. As opposed to donating to say a senator in CA or TX. Donate there to affect an election it gets spread over hundreds of square miles and millions of people. People get more bang for their outta state buck and all here. And don't forget, this is a special election to replace Biden. Be it Christine or Coons, whoever wins on Nov 2nd gets to vote right away on whatever the lameduck congress tries to send down the pike like Cap and Trade, amnesty and Card Check. Not so for most of all the other republican winners who have to wait until January when the loser dems have already voted on that stuff and left office. This one election is important and both parties know it. Send money where-ever you are!

You guys should know better than to armchair quarterback and write O’Donnell off. If there is one thing we know beyond any doubt it is that democrats lie, steal and cheat. All you have to do is watch the Barney Frank debate or the Harry Reid debate and and they were saying one lie after another. Don’t you think the people in Delaware know that? They are going down the tubes like the rest of the coluntry.

Remember Scott Brown? No one thought he could win Ted Kennedy’s seat. O’Donnell’s win is about having her being seated the day after the election and being the 42nd vote to stop Obama. Brown’s victory was about stopping Obamacare. This is the same type of race. It is about stopping Obama’s march into a great depression.

Rasmussen in his latest poll had Coons-O’Donnell at 51-40 % with a margin of error of 4.5%. That can also mean that Coons’ support is soft and O’Donnell stronger than you might think which is why Obama-Biden are there.

Taking the margin of error into consideration the poll could also very realistically read Coons at 46.5% and O’Donnell at 44.5% which is only a 2% difference. Keep in mind that if that is true Coons would be polling below 50 meaning that the undecideds would break against him. right now there is a 4% undecided which means O’Donell would win by 48.5%.

Now do you understand why Obama is in Delaware?

You guys need to play to win or if you don’t see it get off the team.

“She needs to get ex Castleites off the sofa and she needs to get unsatisfied dems. Look for her to start hitting hard any day now.:

My problem is with the Republican National Senatorial Committee and the Delaware State Republicans. Near as I can tell either group is not fully behind her. I have now made 3 or 4 donations to her campaign to try and put her over the top.

Totally agree. Read my post #1, the RNSC and I hope the state GOP pay a price. As for the RNSC, did you know that they tried to get Senator Cornyn to run(thinking he would be less proactive) and replace leading pro tea partier Senator DeMint as chairman of the Republican Steering Committee because DeMint has been so successful leading the teaparty movement from his position? Cornyn fortunately declined. Good man. The RNSC is so worried about upstart incomers criticizing their “keep my job, business as usual” mentality, they were willing to sacrifice their base and the good of the country and maybe a senate majority. The problem with the state GOP is that it is run out of RINOland New Castle County. I don't know what to do about that. Castle should retire to Florida and Tom Ross should be his cabana boy.

I will be so so so happy if she can pull this off for so so so many reasons, not the least of which is to poke these RINOs running the republican party in the eye.

“I hope Christine is spending this money on some hard-hitting attack ads against the bearded Marxist.
Anyone from Del. on the thread who can report on the ad wars and the effectiveness of Christine's ads? She needs to pummel this guy.”

I hope so too! Also hope every DE Freeper will call everyone they can and urge them to vote for O'Donnell! I have donated to Christine from down here in Florida, so hope every Freeper who can will send her a donation. Even a $10 bill will really help! Heard some folks are making $20.10 donations to various candidates.:)

With the relentless negative media coverage against O’Donnell which acts as ads for Coons, I’m not so sure this is such an advantage here.

Not to mention Coons. If you didn’t know who he was and just listened to his opening statement in the debate, you’d swear he was the Republican candidate, going on and on about how Washington is broken and needs to change, blah, blah, blah... WELL, BUTTHOLE... WHOSE FREAKING PARTY IS **IN CHARGE** IN WASHINGTON and HAS BEEN FOR TWO YEARS? Oh, yeah... that’s right. It’s YOUR PARTY, you LYING JACKASS.

“Will the visit from O’Biden be good for some points for COD”?

Since it was a 100 dollar a seat untelevised get together at the ritzy Grand Opera House in the heart of liberal bastion Wilmington, I think its more about money than votes. It certainly wasnt about pulling in the 50% unemployed black youth vote in the city hardest hit in that demographic. Preaching to the choir is what they were doing. Dare an interested citizen/riff raff ask the ex senator and president and senatorial candidate be asked a difficult question. Not exactly a political rally. In fact, I read O’Biden and Coons are going to split the proceeds. I think it definitely wont hurt COD.
