Now Adam Smith in trouble? (WA-9)
Sound Politics ^ | October 18, 2010 | Stefan Sharkansky

Posted on 10/19/2010 7:15:53 AM PDT by Seattle Conservative

Latest Real Clear Politics rankings, which seem to be shifting red in recent days: WA-9 (Smith v Muri) and WA-2 (Larsen v Koster) are toss-up, WA-8 (Reichert v DelBene) and WA-3 (Heck v Herrera) leaning GOP.

Reichert has always had close races, but in the other districts Larsen, Smith and Baird won their last three elections (if not more) with over 60% of the vote.

RCP considers WA's remaining seats to be safe for the incumbents.

Interesting that RCP has moved Smith and Larsen races to Toss-ups given they've won previous elections handily. If Pubbies pick up 1 or both of these seats, Rossi should have a good chance of picking up the Senate seat IMHO.

Jaime Herrera (R) is looking good to take the retiring Baird (D) seat. Biden will be campaigning in Vancouver, WA for Murray this week and I suspect Jaime's Dim opponent (Heck) will also be there.

Jay Inslee is getting some competition from Watkins.

Reichert is hanging in there. I think he'll pull it out but it was a little to close for comfort last time and I wish he were further ahead now.

For those of you who don't know who Stephan is, he worked tirelessly and spent hours pouring over voting records, etc. from the 1st Rossi Gov race when Gregoire was 'selected' and publishing his findings.

FYI

Hope the trend continues and Smith and Larsen lose. It would be icing on the cake and a real Tsunami if Inslee is kicked out!

What odds they are laying in Las Vegas that Uncle Joe will wonder aloud why he is campaigning in Canada?

I have not forgotten that Reichert was one of 8 GOP who voted for cap n trade. However, I am in WA3 and I already voted for Herrera.

I hope it goes as well for him as his campaign appearence in Milwaukee went last week.

A little squib in the local press mentioned that Biden had appeared 4 hrs. late and had spoken to a crowd of EIGHTY at the Wisconsin Club (a posh, private club) in Milwaukee.

People familiar with the behind the scenes workings of campaigns in general and this campaign in particular point out that the reason he was late was that there were no people to fill the room. Others who were on the spot said that aides were rushing around and buttonholing any live body to come into the fundraiser for free to hear the VP -- Wisconsin Club staffers, regular members there on other business, etc.

It's looking good for Republicans this year in WI.

Biden has been in Milwaukee 3 or four times since the beginning of summer. He’s never been much of a draw here, but he’s overexposed - no one cares to hear the same old stump again, much less pay big donor dollars for it.

Trust me, I haven’t forgotten Reichert voted for Cap n Tax either - - he’s my congress critter. I’m voting for him because despite that vote as he held firm on the other fiscal votes and is light years better than DelBene.

I’ve been watching some of the races, and it is looking good for your state and the Senate - go Johnson!

The question is: why was he trying to raise money for Steve Kagen and Julie Lassa in Milwaukee? They are candidates from other parts of the state. Would his turnout have been even worse in their home districts?

The very image of his aides scurrying around The Wisconsin Club dragging members out of the bar and staffers out of their offices to attend this fundraiser tickles my funny bone.

Would love to see Smith packing. He was invited to my husband’s workplace because they were having an issue with a foreign competitor. Bottom line: no help and a poor attitude.

They raise funds where the $ is. Theoretically, a major city like Milwaukee would have enough deep pocket Dems to raise funds for Congressthings from other parts of the state.

How is Jay Inslee looking? I’d love to see him kicked the hell out of his seat.

Reichert heard it LOUD from Pierce County after the cap-n-trade debacle. I hope he took heed.

“Reichert has always had close races, but in the other districts Larsen, Smith and Baird won their last three elections (if not more) with over 60% of the vote.”

And Inslee (WA 1) by 70% in 2008, but only 58% in the primary, and Watkins closing, imho.

“How is Jay Inslee looking? I’d love to see him kicked the hell out of his seat.”

No polling done there at all. Inslee got 58% in the primary following his 70% cruise control victory in 2008. Of course he’s not debating Watkins but one time in some grange hall on Bainbridge Is. this week. Lame.

I’ve been surveying and vote chasing for Rossi, Watkins these past 2 weeks, as well as on sign patrol. Also working hard in my LD for the local Conservatives too...several have as good a chance as they’ve had in a decade or so...
