Twice the venue had to be changed just to accommodate the crowd of 1,800 that attended the debate. Eventually they settled on the Duluth Convention Center. Needles to say, Cravaack's supporters showed up in force and they made sure that Oberstar knew they were there. The Duluth News Tribune reported that his supporters were rowdy and angry, but I truly wonder how much of the reporting was biased to make Chip's supporters look bad. She told me her brother used to be a strong Democrat who worked in Oberstar’s campaigns, but bit by bit he came to realize that the Dems did not really represent his values. So this brother, whose family name is also Oberstar(!!), decided to telphone Jim’s office and was actually able to speak to the congressman. I had a good laugh about this story when she told me it on Oct. 17th!

I do, but I am in California now. I have long since left Minnesota years ago.
What does your friend say about Chip’s prospects? I’ve been following this race since late Spring because of Oberstar’s sponsorship of the bill that would put the EPA in charge of every damp spot on the American landscape. As soon as I read Chip’s bio I liked his chances.
