Da Plane!
Da Plane!
ALSO, Marine One ALWAYS flies with at least two or more “twins” and they play switch constantly for security... and everybody (100’s) is getting a handsome per diem!
Exactly Why not go first class , He isn’t paying for it. We are.
It’ seems pretty unfair to me that Demopcrats get to use the power of the Presidency free.
We have trouble in N. Korea Pakistan Afghanistan, Iran, We have a recession, cant get loans Foreclosure problems, debt, taxes, a thousand things he could be trying to do something about , but he is traveling all over the country at our expense to get l;iberal Democrats elected.
Then after the election he takes off for another two weeks for around the world butt kissing and bowing tours.
“White House uses Marine One to lessen Obama traffic congestion in L.A.”
Well, thats mighty white of ‘em!
>>>Heres the big question, how did Marine 1 make it to LA? Think of the carbon footprint that cost.
The Marines have more than one of that particular model helicopter - the only thing that makes it “Marine1” - or other craft “Air Force 1” is the presence of the CIC - it can be any piece of hardware... and yeah, an Army helo could be “Army 1” if the CIC was on board.
Great pictures!
My office is right here at LAX, and we can hear those helicopters taking off and flying overhead.
They did a “test run” on Tuesday, and some of the women here thought the sound was so loud and terrifying that maybe we were being invaded, until I told them what was going on..
Well, any USMC aircraft with POTUS on board is perforce “Marine One.” They probably just used a SoCal-based copter similar to the one used at the White House.
Obama has passed the quarter million Frequent Flier Miles and has cost the taxpayers more than ONE BILLION DOLLARS on political travel...
I’d be embarassed if I tried to put that many miles on my expense report!
Negative. There is a specific team for carrying the Pres. They are transported inside c-5's if not short distance hops. Plus, the crews go for maintenance and all get as per diem allowance and get to be away from home alot!
I think.....dunno for certain, but I think....that any plane the president occupies receives the designation AF1. Be it 747 or Cessna.
Wonder if "Marine 1" is the same type deal?
I get tired of seeing him all over the place too, but if he stays home, doesn’t he do a lot more _residential duty?
I don’t know which is worse...
“an Army helo could be Army 1 if the CIC was on board.”
I’ll bet that they probably use a batch of specific Marine helicopters that are equipped with devices that could thwart any potential type of SAM...
“They are transported inside c-5’s if not short distance hops.”
They’ve got multiple sets of crews with sets of helicopters, presidential limos and support vehicles.
They just leap-frog each other accross the US to wherever the President is going next.
The equipment they used in San Francisco yesterday is probably now headed to Obama’s next stop...
I am listing to the replay of yesterdays John&Ken kfi . They are talking about that. How awful the traffic would be. As I saw in a previous post, he would not care if the elections weren’t around the corner.
The C-5s are no longer used for the presidential detail, they opted for the C-17s. Saw it on a show about Air Force One yesterday.
CIC? still sticks in my craw that socialist joker is commander of anything.
Wow, I guess that makes sense as to security arrangements.
It seems a terrible waste to transport the special copters for a campaign run. (In fairness, I bet that GOP presidents have done the same.)
VERY good info in this NatGeo special:

How much equipment???

“Heres the big question, how did Marine 1 make it to LA?”
There probably was at least one C-17 carrying at least two Marine Corps helicopters from HMX-1 and multiple presidential limousines to LAX.
