Jerry Brown on His First Stint as Governor: ‘It’s All a Lie. I Didn’t Have a Plan for California’
CNN/Breitbart ^ | 1992

Posted on 10/25/2010 3:58:12 PM PDT by library user

This is must see.

PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT:

JERRY BROWN ON CNN 1992:

"You run for office and, oh, the assumption is, I know what to do. You don't. I didn't have a plan for California.

You say you're going to lower taxes, you say you're going to put people to work, you're going to improve the schools, you're going to stop crime. Crime is up, schools are worse, taxes are higher, I mean be real."

California Is Broke - Why It May Be Time For Everyone To Leave The State Of California For Good
The Economic Collapse ^ | 10-25-2010
FR Posted on Monday, October 25, 2010 4:55:41 PM by blam

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, there was a seemingly endless parade of pop songs about how great life was in California, and millions of young Americans dreamed of moving to the land of sandy beaches and golden sunshine. But now all of that has changed. Today, millions of Californians are dreaming about leaving the state for good. The truth is that California is broke. The economy of the state is in shambles. The official unemployment rate has been sitting above 12 percent for an extended period of time, and poverty is everywhere.

For many Californians today, there are very few reasons to stay in the state but a whole lot of reasons to leave: falling housing prices, rising crime, budget cuts, rampant illegal immigration, horrific traffic, some of the most brutal tax rates in the nation, increasing gang violence and the ever present threat of wildfires, mudslides and natural disasters.

The truth is that it is easy to understand why there are now more Americans moving out of California each year than there are Americans moving into the state. California has become a complete and total disaster zone in more ways than one, and an increasing number of Californians are deciding that enough is enough and they are getting out for good.

Sadly, the state of California is facing such a wide array of social, economic, and political problems that it is hard to even document them all. It is really one huge gigantic mess at this point. Just consider the following facts about what life is like in the state of California today....

--------------------------------------

How'd they get in this fix? Then-Gov Brown signed 1978 legislation allowing collective bargaining for public employees. That started the payoffs to buy votes. Wholesale looting and pillaging had begun.

"Not my fault."

REFERENCE No single act has changed California for the worse more than this one. Before 1978, there was a relatively small state government. Employees were protected by civil service. Pay was lower than comparable jobs in the private sector but job security and good benefits – plus the old notion of “public service” – drew many talented people to work in government. Today, the primary goal of powerful public employee uions is to get the Legislature they bought and paid for to enact a new law making it illegal for any city or county to declare bankruptcy without guaranteeing union contract terms.

Now Brown wants to be governor again.

Sure he does. Raise taxes, make promises to every special interest group that will give him support, degrade the morality of the state and country even further, kiss the collective behinds of the government workers’ unions, do as much as possible to delay making the hard decisions.

Don’t worry. Obama’s tax task force is talking about bailing states that have blown their budgets.

BLUE STATES WILL GET BAILED OUT BY RED STATES. ANOTHER BUREAUCRATIC MONSTROSITY, MORE TAXES, MORE DEBT AND THE COLLAPSE OF OUR WAY OF LIFE. I wish I were kidding. And Bushies were proudly represented. They can’t wait to redistribute the wealth of Texas to California.

Bottom line is if CA elects Brown in this economy, CA is Venezuela Norto.

This nation had no problem kicking Mexicos ass starting in 1846, we put them in their place and our Marines roamed the Halls of Montezuma in Mexico City and showed them whos boss.

MAYBE ITS TIME FOR A SEQUEL.

********************

It’s like the black vote for Obama — so many Dems in this state of all varieties that even if they should know better than to vote for Moonbeam because of the history and facts, they will vote for him just because he’s the Dem. It’s that bad here...........

Add to that, of course, the hispanic (mainly Mexican) vote, legal or not, and there’s your election.

Pathetic, and more and more right-minded people are leaving the state, taking their funds and businesses with them. If I could leave, I would, but honestly, why should WE have to leave? Isn’t it way past time to get rid of all the detritus that’s been sucking up the benefit goodies all these years, thanks in large part to the policies of Moonbeam himself?

People should remember what Jerry Brown, as Governor during Proposition 13, did to the voters of California.

He did everything in his power to punish voters for voting for Proposition 13 in the 1970s.

For example, he cut Police and Fire funding at a time when he gave Hanoi Jane Fonda a one million dollar arts program allocation.

Jerry Brown, in the 1970s, felt that the voters of California should be punished for voting for Proposition 13 -- an initiative to freeze property taxes on long time property owners.

For example, during this time, I had a relative who had a $10,000 loan on a home from the 1950's that was valued at over $200,000 in the 1970's. His property taxes were considerably more than house payments/insurance payments on the house.

This was a common problem for many people in California as property taxes were going through the roof.

That is why people voted for Proposition 13.

Even if Proposition 13 was unfair for some reason, it was still the wish of the voters and elected representatives such as Jerry Brown should have respected the view of the voters.

Instead, he did everything in his power to punish voters for voting for proposition 13.

They need to be ready to investigate voter fraud. As Brown is totally devoted to ACORN. wITH WITNESS you can trust. Also,Calif has a Sec of State,Bowen, that did not vet current POTUS> which is her job. They have also put an OBOT on the ballot for Sec of State-Damon Dunn. running on the republican ticket. This guy was registered in Florida as a democrat less than 9 months before he was put on Ca ballot as a Republican. I’m sure Brown the Clown knows ALL about this also. It is in court right now. We should have a recall coming soon on this subject.

You answered your own question. I live in California and everyone I am talking to either voted for or is going to vote for Whitman.
We have three main problems here in the state of fruits and nuts.
1) The unions. The unions are using all the dues stolen from their people to get Brown, Boxer and other democrats elected. Plus, the unions with their retirements are making it virtually impossible for the private citizens to save any money.
2) The damn illegals. Every illegal is just going to do something else illegal. They will go to the voting booths, lie about who they are and vote for democrats. We need to make it so a person needs to have identification in order to vote. We also need to have everyone re-register in order to vote to keep all the dead people, the people who vote multiple times from voting.
3) We need to stop early voting. People being able to vote up to three weeks early just opens up the chances of voter fraud. Absentee voting should be only for people who really need and qualify for me. Military personnel, home bound people, and people like me who drive trucks for a living and are gone for weeks at a time.
To close, California and every other state need to clean up their books to make voting legal again. Maybe we need to do what the Iraqis did when they voted for the first time after decades of being under the thumb of their democrat, Saddam Hussein, tip one of our fingers in paint so it was very obvious voting had occurred.

Let me try this again.

For weeks now there has been a commercial played on TV in California using a video clip of Brown from a talk show uttering the words “When I was Governor, I didn’t have a plan.” So the answer to your question why doesn’t Whitman feature this in an ad is, she is! Or another group perhaps, can’t remember who the sponsor of the ad is. Some ads come from other than the campaign itself. One lists all Brown’s efforts on tax hikes over the years, including opposing Prop 13, tax hikes while mayor of Oakland, etc.

Military personnel, home bound people, and people like me who drive trucks for a living and are gone for weeks at a time.

The liberal stranglehold goes way beyond this.

Yes, the unions are a big reason for it. Why? Because California lack paycheck protection laws. Unions extort money from members to give to only Democrats. If they had to get explicit permission from the members on an annual basis, the Union political funds would dry up over night. Schwarzennegger pushed for passing this proposition back in 2004. He got his ass kicked by the Teachers Union and Nurses Union, when all 4 of the props he supported failed. If the paycheck protection prop had passed, the Dems would have lost a guarnateed source of political funding from the unions.

Disgruntled California conservatives need to DEMAND paycheck protection for union members immediately, if not sooner.

Illegals are not an issue in the Dem stranglehold. Election fraud IS an issue and the CA Republicans need to go after this right up to requiring ID for voting. No more dead or felon names used for the voting rolls. Really, the CA GOP needs to fight to overturn motor-voter automatic registration. But voter ID is an absolute must and going after voter fraud is also a must.

You left off the CA elitists, both the upper class and middle class. Vast numbers of brain-dead, feel-good CA elitists pull the Dem lever exclusively, voting with their heart and not their head, in election after election. Thi is not just the gay lobby or Jewish lobby, etc. It is vast numbers of middle class yuppies in major cities who vote themselves higher taxes and more government restrictions because they LOVE higher taxes and they LOVE government. I kid you not.

Then you have all of the voting poor. We have a massive entitlement mentality here in California and those receiving welfare, food stamps, assistance, vouchers, housing allowances, medical allowances, transportation allowances, etc ad nauseum -- how do you think they vote? Hint: it is NOT GOP> They are on the gravy train and they vote exclusively DEM to keep the flood of gravy flowing.

California government schools have brainwashed generations CA residents. They vote knee-jerk Dem. It takes a long time to turn a brainwashed, starry-eyed young "save the whales" liberal to morph into an overtaxed, overburdgened, government-oppressed conservative - so write off most people under 40 years old as products of their government school indoctrination.

California is flat doomed. It needs to collapse and have its resident workers/taxpayers suffer so badly that they wake from their dreams of Utopia, holding hands and buying the world a coke, to the cold, hard reality that they can't provide for their kids and their own future if they are wasting all of their money on deadbeats, takers, and idiotic green/wasteful/ridiculous/insane/pork barrell government boondoggles.

Pretty much how Britain gained Hong Kong at one time. Too bad no one is taught history and knows this lesson. We will lose states to pay our reparations. It'll happen one way or another. Either in payment for debt or when we no longer have the power to dictate how the world runs and that power belongs to China. The path we are on...no American is mentally prepared for it. Except maybe those expats who are very at home on the Pacific Rim.

Or when you lose wars or when the world hegemon decides you have committed crimes against humanity or whatever term is in vogue at that time. I mention Hong Kong because that loss is very much alive in the Chinese psyche. The Century of Humiliation — they actually teach and practice nationalism on steroids. And remember, they branded the fortune cookie, “Revenge is dish best served cold”.
