BUSH MAKES PEACE: BOOK REVEALED
The Drudge Report ^ | 10/28/10

Posted on 10/28/2010 9:42:28 AM PDT by MissesBush

**Exclusive** **Must Credit**

"It was a simple question, 'Can you remember the last day you didn't have a drink?'"

So begins President George W. Bush in the opening chapter ["Quitting"] from the most anticipated book of the season, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

With DECISION POINTS, set for release November 9, Bush pulls back the curtain with a strikingly personal work that takes very few shots at his critics.

The former president even stays clear of Obama!

**

From 911's "Day of Fire" to "Katrina" to "Financial Crisis", Bush explains how he returned to his faith, time and time again.

And the faith of others.

The president details how he bonded with Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia -- and a magical bird!

Arriving angry at Bush's Texas ranch over the president's position on Israel and Ramallah, Abdullah quickly decided he wanted to leave.

But the prince spots a turkey on the road -- and takes it as a good omen, a sign from Allah!

**

The president reveals he gave the order to shoot down planes on September 11 -- and at first thought the plane in PA had been shot down.

**

In the chapter "Stem Cells", Bush describes receiving a letter from Nancy Reagan detailing a "wrenching family journey".

But ultimately, Bush writes: "I did feel a responsibility to voice my pro-life convictions and lead the country toward what Pope John Paul II called a culture of life."

In the book, Bush describes an emotional July 2001 meeting with the Pope at the pontiff's summer residence.

Savaged by Parkinson's, the Pope saw the promise of science, but implored Bush to support life in all its forms.

Later, at the Pope's funeral -- and after a prodding from his wife that it's a time to "pray for miracles" -- Bush found himself saying a prayer for the cancer-stricken ABCNEWS anchor Peter Jennings.

**

With 14 chapters and an epilogue, it's Bush's turn.

And he'll even do it on OPRAH.

A top Bush source explains: "You will find the president strong, loving life, and ultimately at peace with the decisions he made."

DECISION POINTS ranked #29 on AMAZON's hitlist early Thursday.

I think, if I were ever to meet him, I would start crying...

I met Pres Bush when he and Laura came to our town before the election in Sept, 2000. He shook our hands just when one man started heckling him.

We told him not to pay any attention to the heckler, and he just smiled and said, "I'm used to it."

But it requires people to see that the greater man is the one that self imposes some standards and decency. culture is the fine art of discrimination.

Realize, we're dealing with an electorate that has been dummied down with public education. That is divided and has been pushed to see their world in terms of race, sex, age, income, national origin or sexual orientation by demagogues making their living off them. They are blasted and overwhelmed with information, most trivial, much incorrect, that then also gets filtered for political correct reasons or because certain things sell better. They are incapable of making any form of value based decision because they have actually been taught that this is wrong! They are so beat down into believing it's wrong to make value based decisions/judgments that they can't see a difference between a Gericaul and Andy Warhol. They never read the classics, they are not taught formal logic, are poor in math and can't identify a fallacy. Basically, they can't think.

The American is so ADD (from the Internet, computer games, and quick paced movies and music) that even if you have a news show you need to super-saturate the colors, have constant movement on the screen and you STILL can't keep their attention longer than ~3-5 minutes. Even reality isn't vivid enough anymore for them, and they are hyper sexed, over medicated and bored with things like food, their spouse, children............. Though we have more degrees than ever before, though we love to consider ourselves more intellectual and cultured, we have as a society degenerated into some cultural primordial scum chasing our most basic hedonistic needs. Turn on MTV or some Hip Hop video to see this in action.

Do you expect the modern “layperson” to really see the culture and decency in what Bush did or how he conducts himself now? Do you think the layperson recognizes how vile it is of Carter to run around and ankle bite the way he does?

The people today want their bread and games. Give them a $250 stimulus check and they will sell you the rest of their freedom too.

When your enemies are busily destroying themselves, all you have to do is sit back and watch.

He can't win...the book was going to be released 2 weeks before the election, Bush decided it was best to release it after.
If he released it before NOv 2, he thought he would be the center of attraction for the Dems.

Duh. November 9th is after the election!

No matter what he does (see my other post) he will be dumped on by some.

I for one would vote for him again in a heart beat, no if’s ands or buts.

Good points. Bush blew the gaskets in spending. Sure Obama took it further, but if Bush had drawn any kind of line in the sand on spending, Obama would not have been able to take it as far as he has.

Obama has been able to say you Republicans have no credibility on spending, therefore I can do what I want.

Yes, I know he is very unpopular here on FR

That's the primary reason why I am no longer as active on FR as I once was. It's also the reason why, although I am a political conservative, I will never again trust self-professed "real" conservatives. I am a conservative, but no longer part and parcel of the conservative movement precisely due to what they revealed about themselves since midway through this first decade of the 21st Century.

I also will salute GWB to my dying day, and proud to do so. In several critical respects, he is the greatest president of my lifetime.

Considering Ronaldus Magnus was in office through January, 1989, I take it you are a very young man or woman.

I am 64 and remember the Reagan years extremely well. Reagan was a great man, no doubt, but GWB was, in several respects, the greater president. He was also, in several respects, more genuinely conservative than President Reagan. Frankly, if Reagan were running for president now, the same self-professed "real" conservative crowd that hates GWB would label Reagan a "RINO."

Bush should sit down and shut up before he does even more damage.

Speaking of who should sit down and shut up before they do more damage, I really never want to hear from sour, perpetually (should I say professionally) disgruntled people like you again in my lifetime. Here's some of the "greatest hits" of the so-called "real" conservative movement:

-->Sticking your noses in the Terry Schiavo case, and attempting to use government to force your religious and anti-science beliefs about end-of-life issues onto the general population.

--> Intelligent design, nothing but a dishonest attempt at forcing so-called creation "science" into school curriculums.

--> Not just anti-evolution, but anti-science pretty much across the board.

--> Throwing constitutional protections out the window while convicting Gary Condit for murdering Chandra Levy simply because he is a Democrat. For those of you who aren't aware of the latest news about this case, there is someone on trial right now for her murder, and his name is NOT Gary Condit.

--> Debating the illegal immigration issue in such a ham-fisted, overly strident way that millions of Hispanics are now convinced Republicans hate them.

--> Turning on Harriet Miers in a ham-fisted, overly strident, even cruel way, thereby reinforcing the seriously flawed, even dangerous notion that only nominees from elite law schools like Harvard should be nominated to the Supreme Court.

--> Hunting "RINO's" everywhere in 2008 to the point that all we were left with as the Republican nominee in was John McCain, the worst possible nominee.

--> Failing to see the threat posed by Obama throughout all of late 2007 and early 2008. So-called "real" conservatives were busy then fighting the battles of the 1990's instead of looking forward. It was all about stopping Hillary, not realizing she actually would have been a safer -- not better, just safer -- president than Obama.

--> Here in California, recalling Gray Davis. All that did was allow our Marxist legislature to hide behind a true nominal Republican in Arnold Schwarzenegger.

--> Here in California, failing to capitalize on Republicans taking control in the Assembly for the first time in practically forever. Riding the 1994 wave, Republicans gained a 41 to 39 majority in the Assembly, whereupon the so-called "real" conservatives began squabbling with "moderates" over who should be speaker. They squabbled for two solid years, lost the majority in 1996 and have never come close to regaining it since. They totally blew the opportunity to be in the majority during the all-important redistricting period at the end of the decade.

--> Constantly whining about how the media "picks" Republican candidates, when it's you, self-professed "real" conservatives who (1) hate anyone who doesn't march in lockstep with your group-think, and (2) do the voting in primaries.

I could go on and on, but time is fleeting.

I salute you Sir!!!

Your words brought tears to my eyes! I do not tear up easy and I was very inspired about your genuine love for GWB!

I love both GWB and RWR. It is like saying I love BOTH my sons. Showering one with praise does not mean I do not love the other one

However, it also means that I judge both by the same criteria and not selective criteria as many on FR do
