As a Christmas present I received a copy of Decision Points, abridged CD audio by Random House Audio. When I placed Disc 1 into my laptop disc drive, Windows Media Player attempts to pull the cover art from the internet. Apparently someone is trying to sell some music. Very poor taste nonetheless. Instead of viewing the book cover, I see this: A quick Google search leads me to DJ Flash's MySpace page: And to his "record label" . . .

Former U.S. President George W Bush's memoir has sold an astonishing two million copies since it was released in early November - and it's not even in paperback yet. By contrast, former president Bill Clinton's memoir, 'My Life', has logged sales of 2.2million copies since it was first published in 2004. A spokesman for Crown called the performance remarkable. He claimed he could not think of any other hardcover nonfiction books in 2010 tha

"CBS News aired a fake cover of former President George W. Bush's memoir over the weekend, after a staffer apparently got duped by a hoax image floating around the Internet...The title of the Bush book read: "Desision Points ... How I Managed to Go Eight Years Without Making One Good Decision." Save for the title and subtitle, the cover image looked similar to that of the real book, "Decision Points."

Bradley Manning, who allegedly leaked hundreds of thousands of secret government documents to Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks, turns 23 in jail Friday. The Daily Beast’s Denver Nicks, in an exclusive interview with Manning’s attorney, reports on his solitary confinement, what he’s reading (from George W. Bush to Howard Zinn), and his legal strategy. The last time Bradley Manning saw the world outside of a jail, most Americans had never heard of WikiLeaks. On Friday, Manning, the man whose alleged unauthorized release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents put the website and its controversial leader, Julian Assange, on the map, turns...

Could Michael Kinsley possibly be any more predictable? His review of George Bush's "Decision Points," appearing in today's Sunday New York Times, is precisely the smug piece of sneering partisanship you would expect to find in this paper and from this quintessential liberal MSM elitist. As the headline indicates, Kinsley flatly accuses W of "stealing" the 2000 election. Kinsley offers no proof, but surely most of the people who will read this review require none. They take it as a matter of deep partisan faith. Speaking of faith, the former Crossfire man is mocking of Bush's. Consider this excerpt: "[H]e...

George W. Bush's return to the spotlight has resulted in big sales for his memoir, "Decision Points." His publisher, Crown, said Wednesday that the former president's book has sold more than 1.1 million copies since hitting shelves two weeks ago, The Associated Press reported. More than 135,000 copies were sold as e-books, according to the publisher. Bush kept a low profile after leaving office last year, declining interviews and avoiding comment on his successor and politics in general. But he emerged this month to promote the book, appearing in interviews with Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Sean Hannity and...

George W. Bush is sitting on a hotel sofa in front of a south-facing window on a sunny November morning. His presidential memoir, "Decision Points," is No. 1 on amazon.com and is expected to be No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. "I've got a very comfortable life," he says. "Decision Points," as the title suggests, does not purport to be the full story of Bush's life or his administration. It "provides data points for future historians." Contrary to stereotype, Bush admits some serious errors up front. He failed to see the "house of cards" in the financial...

Looking at the 43rd and 44th American presidents right now, it is worth reflecting that it was only the unpopularity of Bush and all he represented that enabled someone as inexperienced and unproven as Obama to ascend to power. By the same token, perhaps only a performance in office as myopic, self-absorbed and hubristic as that of Obama could have brought about a Bush rehabilitation so swiftly.

The results represent the largest first-day sale of any nonfiction title published by Random House Inc. in the past six years, said Crown Publishers, a unit of Bertelsmann AG's Random House. George W. Bush's book is out! I want to take a few moments to address/answer some potential rumors and other details that didn't make the final cut: There is a shortage of crayons, but only in NYC and San Francisco. Biden did not ghost write the book, he tried to plagiarize it. Kanye West is not expected to read it, he can barely read his own lyrics. If Bush decides to appear on "The View" to discuss the book ABC is preparing for the eventuality of temporarily calling it "The Elizabeth Hasselbeck Hour." His handlers did try to smooth...

In new memoir, former US president says "those theories were false. I was sending our troops into combat to protect the American people.” WASHINGTON – In his new memoir out Tuesday, former US president George W. Bush flatly rejects the notion that Israel was behind his decision to invade Iraq. Referring to critics who cast aspersions on his motives, Bush dismisses those who “alleged that America’s real intent was to control Iraq’s oil or satisfy Israel.” He stresses, “Those theories were false. I was sending our troops into combat to protect the American people.” In the 30 pages he spends...

"I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system," - President George W. Bush, December 16, 2008 on CNN President George W. Bush signs the $700 billion US financial bailout bill in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington Friday. (Charles Dharapak/Associated Press)Most conservatives just slapped their heads and groaned in consternation over the above statement; and probably also wanted to slap silly the president they've otherwise supported and defended for the last nigh 8 years in office. The Troubled Asset Relief Program was heavily criticized by many conservatives. In light of the stimulus spendings and expansion of...

As President Bush’s memoir Decision Points hits stores today, former campaign media adviser Mark McKinnon compares the book to the man he crossed the partisan divide to help elect.Every president becomes a caricature. The press, partisans, late-night shows, and other arbiters of our culture these days boil down complicated and multi-faceted personalities into one-dimensional punchlines. As President Bush writes in his new memoir, Decision Points, they "questioned my legitimacy, my intelligence, and my sincerity. They mocked my appearance, my accent, and my religious beliefs. I was labeled a Nazi, a war criminal, and Satan himself." I'm glad President Bush has...

Fans of former President George W. Bush began lining up Monday night for a book signing this morning at a North Dallas bookstore. Bush, wearing a coat and tie and accompanied by security personnel, sat at a table and began signing books nearly a half-hour ahead of his scheduled time to start. Terry and Tammy Jones was the first in line...

WASHINGTON – George W. Bush knows that history will shape his legacy more than anything he can say. But that's not gonna stop a guy from trying. After two years of near silence, Bush is back. With his new memoir, "Decision Points," and a promotion tour, the president who in cockier times could not think of a single mistake he had made, lists many. He counts the years without a post-9/11 attack as his transcendent achievement. He says the economic calamity he handed off to Barack Obama was "one ugly way to end a presidency." While he's been absent from...

In his memoir, George W. Bush praises President Barack Obama’s decision to escalate the war in Afghanistan. “I strongly believe the mission is worth the cost,” Bush wrote in “Decision Points,” which comes out Tuesday. “Fortunately, I am not the only one.” He expresses gratitude that Obama “stood up to critics by deploying more troops, announcing a new commitment to counterinsurgency in Afghanistan, and increasing the pressure on Pakistan to fight the extremists in the tribal areas.” In the 497-page autobiography, Obama comes up in 10 places. Each is either a favorable, sympathetic or tangential reference. There is not a...

Former President George W. Bush says criticism from some, including prominent rapper Kanye West, that his handling of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina showed he did not care about black people represented "an all-time low." In his memoir, "Decision Points," to be released next Tuesday, Bush writes that charges flung at him that he was a racist during the Katrina crisis "was the worst moment of my presidency." In excerpts of an interview of Bush by NBC's "Today" show, the former president was asked about West's comment that "George Bush doesn't care about black people." The accusation arose because many blacks...

If so, what event/topic/clarification are you hoping he will talk about in it? For me, I want to read about his relationship with Condi Rice. Not in a icky way, just how they came to work so closely together. I've always admired how he interacted and respected her. Especially in contrast to Bill Clinton and his history with women.

(CNN) - Americans are divided over whether President Barack Obama or his predecessor has performed better in the White House, according to a new national poll. And a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday also indicates in the battle for Congress, Republicans hold large advantages over the Democrats among independents, men and blue-collar whites. The poll also indicates that Republicans are much more enthusiastic than Democrats to vote. By 47 to 45 percent, Americans say Obama is a better president than George W. Bush. But that two point margin is down from a 23 point advantage one year ago.

Low-income workers stand to lose the most if lawmakers fail to reach a consensus on the Bush-era tax cuts, according to a new report from the Tax Foundation. The report states that on Jan. 1 the doubling of the child tax credit, increased standard deductions and income credits and the creation of the 10 percent tax bracket — all of which primarily aimed at non-wealthy taxpayers — will vanish if gridlock persists in Washington. While wealthier taxpayers pay more in taxes and stand to lose more money if the tax cuts expire, the impact on low-income taxpayers will be far...
