An aspect of self defense in one's home that isn't discussed much is revenge. Robert Wallace of Wheat Ridge, Colorado had his 15 minutes of fame when he was charged with 4 counts of attempted murder for firing two shots at two criminals stealing his trailer parked in his yard. Eventually the courts decided not to send an 82 year old man off to the Big House for the rest of his life. They decided that probation would be enough, but took all his guns away from him. Society is safe and justice is served. Now, his RV has been purposely burned by someone. It appears someone climbed the ladder, poured gas or some combustible into the roof vent and tossed a match. He believes it is revenge and that is a pretty good guess since the police have said the thieves he shot at belonged to a car theft ring. When we defend our home, any surviving bad guys are pretty upset. We have increased the risk of their chosen profession. Clearly we must be punished. The survivors or their confederates know exactly where you live, and after the news coverage of the shooting is done, they know lots about the person who defended his home. This is bad, but not as bad as doing nothing when your home is invaded. In the case of Mr. Wallace, he has angered someone willing to do violence to property and perhaps more. The government has disarmed him to protect society. Who protects Mr. Wallace?

When someone breaks into your home, shoot to kill.
Jeff Co DA Scott Story is a RINO scumbag for doing this.
They were outside stealing his trailer. He fired when they drove at him. CO law doesn’t allow defending property.
The penalty for car theft should be close to what horse theivin’ was in the old west.....
Looks like his life was threatened at that point.
Well, like Peter Boyles says, all Scott Storey did in this case was to take the guns and money away from and 80+ year old law-abiding American citizen. He must be so darned proud!
The left is happy with the outcome. The purpose of restricting legal guns and harassing honest, law-abiding people is to allow the downtrodden underclass to just waltz in and take whatever is “rightfully theirs”. Just a little income redistribution.
Yes. But the old guy would have to go to trial on 12 felony counts, including 4 attempted murder. He took a plea for probation.
Rock-Hard Place
No legal basis for taking all of his guns!
Fire your lawyer for taking the deal!
Wonder if anyone has offered to sell him another?
So, how'd they come up with four attempted murder charges with two perps? I still have yet to see that explained.
4 rounds fired ???
Two shots fire, each with two potential targets. In otherwords, Storey threw the load at Mr. Wallace.
Also, the illegal alian perps were not arrested until this hit talk radio. Then ICE grabbed them out of embarrasment. These guys have been arrested and released for felonies over a dozen times each.
The old guy is just another victim offered up on the altar of political correctness.
I think Texas has a good idea- they let people use deadly force to protect property there. That should be the law of the land.... It would stop a lot of property crime, allow more space in jails, create less crowded court dockets, and thus be a major savings for the taxpayers. Might even create a temporary boom in the funeral business...
Remember Robert Wallace of Wheat Ridge? [Sorry if you already know all of this.] He shot at a couple thieves who tried to steal his trailor and was charged with attempted murder. One of the thieves is an illegal immigrant. Here are updates.

Wallace saw two men, identified as Alvaro Cardona-DeLoera, 28, and Damacio Torres-Ochoa, 32, attempting to hitch his trailer to their red truck. As they fled the scene, with one of the men running alongside the truck before gaining entry to the vehicles cab, he fired two shots although he didnt immediately mention that to police ... leading to his arrest on attempted murder charges ... Wheat Ridge authorities charged Cardona-DeLoera and Torres-Ochoa with theft. But Torres-Ochoa was already in hot water with Immigration and Custom Enforcement, whose agents previously busted him on an immigration violation. [snip]
Wallace pleaded guilty to two felonies

His mistake was the “attempted” part. He should have finished the job.
