“Assuming one of these two will be your next Senator from California, which one would you choose:

You have a poor memory for what happened to FairOpinion.

Answer: None of the above. I'll vote for Whitman, but not for Fiorina.

If you choose to NOT vote for Fiorina (as a vote against Boxer) our of so-called principle, well, then you’re allowing someone much worse to win (Boxer).

Not enough worse.

What’s so hard to understand about this?

False premises are easy to understand.

I’m not being arrogant or lazy in this analysis. This is the cold reality.

Yes, you are, but it's because you have apparently no recollection of the same games played during the recall here. DoughtyOne, care to educate this gentleman?

Perhaps this is an issue of stubborn pride (in your case), but in life and in business, we have to make practical choices, given the realities at hand.

You present a false choice. Typical.

I can only assume from your suggestion that people don’t vote for Fiorina is that you wouldn’t mind having Boxer do another term. Or you find that LESS objectionable than Fiorina.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a borderline push.

That’s sad, dude, because that kind of stubbornness (the so-called “protest vote”) is partly what helped allow the usurper, President Narcissus in the WH.

Poppycock. It was the machinations of the GOP that nominated "electable" John McCain. Those gambits included everything from allowing Democrat crossovers to the Fred Thompson fan dance. The only reason he wasn't beat by ten more points was Sarah Palin.

No, it was the "Schwarzenegger is a fiscal conservative," "A vote for McClintock is a vote for Bustamante," BS that got us in this mess in California, when Tom would have beat Bustamante one-on-one. It's the same game you're selling me now. A lot of FReepers fell for that bullcrap and regret it to this day. Schwarzenegger is the only reason Jerry Brown has a prayer today, just as "moderate Republican" hand across the aisle George Bush, who never vetoed a single spending bill is why we have the Teleprompter Queen. RINOs are deadly to conservatism. Nixon wrecked the GOP for a decade while Wilson was the downfall in California. It's happened over and over, and here you are selling the same garbage. For the likes of you we'd never have seen Ronald Reagan.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals of our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan I'll take his advice thank you, not yours.

I guess that explains your politics which aren't a very good match for this pro-life forum, you do not want us to vote for the Pro-life, pro-gun Senate candidate, but you do want us to vote for the pro-abortion, anti-gun Governor candidate.

I think you’ve said your piece and we just have to agree to disagree.

Since I didn’t give you false choices as you allege (Boxer vs. Fiorina are the ONLY TRUE choices in this battle pragmatically speaking), I just have to assume that you won’t vote for either (thus, that’s an implicit vote for Boxer because you’re throwing one “eject-Boxer” vote away).

Your vote for any other low-ranking candidate is sheer impotence. Sure it makes you feel proud, but you will have screwed Calif and the country one more time by sending that Marxist fool back to Washington.

And FYI, I actually did meet Ronald Reagan in his office at the top of the 20th Century Fox Bldg in LA in 1993. One of my friends knows him and we asked to have a half an hour visit with him. A giant of a man.

Sure, I see your point about how electing a RINO (like Schwartznegger or Bush) can lead to disgruntlement several years down the road and can backfire on conservatives). But in the case of California, replete with useless liberal swine, you’re far too idealistic to think we can elect a true conservative Senator here.

Think in terms of incrementalism (Fiorna now and maybe a more conservative senator next). The unwashed masses here have to slowly learn the right way to do things.

Reagan was far more of a pragmatist than you are. He held to his values, but he also understood the battlefield and wasn’t stubborn enough to blind him from pragmatism.

Learn from him, why don’t you...

You think Fiorina is not pro-life? Good grief that is what Boxer has been beating her up over and Fiorina tells the story often of how her husband’s mother refused to abort him even though doctors was pushing her to do so....... I am so sick of being stuck with lousy democrats because people are one issue voters.

The latest ad in his own words from Whitman really brings it home, I shudder to think he gets another chance at further screwing the state, I still blame the eight years we had of him for it’s fall.....

Four votes from our Family.

Unfortunately, I think my Dad's lady friend still drinks the Kool Aid despite my nudging. I can only hint because Politics is a no go whenever we get together. Her Son and his Wife are dedicated Libtards, so we only gained one vote overall.

Did you catch the latest Brown ad that says Meg “abused’ her housekeeper? Lies and damn lies. In fact, it may have said Physically Abused.

-—”I am so sick of being stuck with lousy democrats because people are one issue voters.”

EXACTLY! That’s where pragmatism comes in. California is such a pathetic place (politically) that we can’t let one issue stop a fairly decent opponent to a complete libtard Marxist like Boxer.

-—”Schwarzenegger is the only reason Jerry Brown has a prayer today, just as “moderate Republican” hand across the aisle George Bush, who never vetoed a single spending bill is why we have the Teleprompter Queen.”

I like your term Teleprompter Queen for Barack OweBama.

But again, you’re flat out wrong with your first statement about “Schwarzenegger is the only reason Jerry Brown has a prayer today.” Wrong, wrong, wrong.

First, let me say, I’m a staunch fiscal conservative who thinks gov’t with all its Civil Serpents should be gutted. Put those useless s.o.b’s out on the street.

The flaw in your logic is that you think if we had a MORE conservative governor than the Governator, that Moonbeam whore-calling Brown would not have a chance? No way! The unwashed liberal masses in Calif would probably be LESS likely to be receptive to a Boxer alternative that is very conservative. These people need to be slowly spoon-fed conservativism.

Just like the famous term, “creeping socialism” but in reverse: “Creeping conservativism.”

Get it?

I see people like you as impatient and unrealistic. You think you can have your perfect conservative candidate tomorrow (and I sure wish we could too). But that is not reality. Wake up and smell the coffee and show us that you can understand logic and reason rather than obstinacy.

Like I’m one to talk... ;^)

Die hard Republicans keep being faced with the worst possible dilemmas when it comes to the lesser of two evils. It is my take on it that we do, because we continue to prove to the Republican elites, that we will do exactly what they think we will.

We are continually confronted with people who will implement the Left’s agenda for them. The only problem is, if we allow the Leftist candidate to get in, they will implement even more of their agenda.

When is the last time you saw the Left implement our policy for us? Have you seen them cut our taxes? Have you seen them support the military? Have you seen them support tough dealings with the terrorists we have captured? Have you seen them support a better education system, cutting off the propagandist PBS or NPR, supporting life, or shunning globalist entanglements? Do they push law and order or try to stop illegal immigration? No. They do none of this.

And yet, our folks implement theirs.

So what we’re left with over and over, is political players on our side who are RINOs, and continually implement 25 to 75% of the Left’s agenda for them, still claiming to be one of or one with us.

That’s why this nation lurches farther left under every single administration. Under Democrats it lurches further, but it’s still drifting significantly under our own party’s players.

Fiorina and Whitman are sock puppets of John McCain. Neither of them had enough clues to know that you don’t support the man. They both jumped in to help him in 2008. They were comfortable backing a person who is willing to deal with Soros, Kennedy, Kerry, Feingold, Hillary, the Democrat party... I mean with this guy it never stops.

It’s the same problem I have with Palin. She, Whitman, Fiorina..., they all think McCain’s agenda is solid. All you have to do is look at that agenda to be sick as a dog.

http://www.hotr.us/mccain/mccainagain.html

So here we go. It’s either Boxer or Fiorina. Boxer will do what Leftist’s do, and Fiorina will be John McCain’s sock puppet, doing what Leftists do. So what’s the point? Why have the Leftist agenda implemented in our name?

Let Boxer go back and screw our state over some more. She’ll be doing it in the Democrat’s name. I can live with that. I cannot live with Fiorina, McCain and company doing it as Republicans.

McCain right now has his meat hooks into Graham, Brown, Fiorina, Snowe, and a few others. He is developing a block of Senators he can control. Last count, he had about eight of them. He is a power hungry son of a bitch, willing to consort with some of the world’s worst players.

So no, I’m not that worried if Fiornia doesn’t get in. Give me a solid Conservatie and hell yes I’ll vote for them. Give me another RINO and I’ll be content to send an occasional FU their way, but certainly no votes.

Carry_Okie references my vote for Schwarzenegger in 2003. What did that vote get me and my fellow Californians. It got us about two decent things out of his two terms. Then it got us a rubber stamp for anything the Dems wanted. And who signed those bills? A republican! He did it in my name because I asked him to by voting for him.

Carry_Okie and company asked us not to vote for Davis’ removal. He said it would be more problematic if he was removed, because it would set up a situation where our people would blur what Republicans (more importantly Conservatives) actually stood for. Look at what our dear Republican signed on to time after time after time, in my name.

I had hoped Schwarzenegger, having lived in the Eastern Block under Soviet Oppression, or at least close enough to it to understand the evils of statism or socialism or Communism, that he would steer away from it. Well, he didn’t.

He has embarrassed me for his whole term. Worse yet, he screwed our state over. And still worse yet, he did it in the name of Republicans (what most people in the state will read as a “Conservative”), even though he is the farthest thing from one.

As Conservatives, we have to quit buying off on candidates that will not rule as a Conservative. The more elections the Republicans lose with Lefties, the sooner they will quit lofting them for us to vote for.

Carry_Oakie is merely trying to get you an intervention to keep you from hurting yourself. I heartily agree with him.

I’m kidding here, but seek help. Har.

You may not agree with us, but please try to understand where we are coming from. We simply cannot continue to vote in people on our side who will implement Medicare Part D, and spend like a drunken sailor for eight years in our name. This HAS TO STOP.

Take care.

I concur. Demographics are working against us at an astonishing pace. We are headed towards a time where this nation will almost be like 2 entirely different countries - where, unfortunately, traditional, white voters will be in the minority. The country will be in the worst shape it has ever been, yet leftists may still command a majority of the vote for generations to come. We must find a way to begin reversing this. Blacks are probably a total write off. Hispanics on the other hand are a group we must make inroads with - otherwise more and more states will be lost to us like California.

Oh please. There is no way, on God's green earth, that Obama wins a second term,, unless the environment dramatically changes. He would be lucky to do better than Mondale.

As far as the hispanic vote: yes, getting the hispanic vote would be nice. But statistically, the 800 pound gorilla in this equation is the massive block of conservative white voters who, for historical and cultural reasons, hate the Republican party. Outside of a few states, they are the only reason that conservative Republicans don't dominate. Yes, California may be one of those states. But the reason that we are facing one of the most dramatic elections in American history is because massive numbers of conservative-leaning voters are coming out of the woodwork, and voting out the Cocktail/Democratic party. The only way we should "make inroads" with the Hispanic voters is to remain conservative, and stick to the principles outlined in the Constitution.

I think some people here are confused, like Tom Campbell, Meg Whitman, is openly campaigning on a pro-abortion, anti-gun agenda, she is running as a pro-choice, anti-gun candidate.

When someone tells you openly that they are supporting Meg Whitman, but are against Fiorina, then that voter is clearly voting as a pro-abortion, anti-gun person.

I think the entire voters rolls nationwide are contaminated & need to be quarentined & not used again.

Real, live voters need to go to the County Registrar of Voters offices & re-register with a minimum of 3 kinds of ID. Such ID will be photographed electronically & become part of the permanent record. Then, at election time, you must also present ID to vote. Accountable employees only can register you-no volunteers. Keep offices open on Saturday & closed on Monday to accomplish this.

Back to basics- no moter voter crap—no early voting—even absentee voting needs to be cut down to a minimum. Those who are incarcerated do not get to vote-PERIOD.
Those who are in retirement homes & cannot dress themselves, feed themselves, write a letter or pay their bills should be evaluated for absentee voting. Too many of those ballots are being filled out by the SEIU staff in those locations.

NO ‘voter drives’ by any group.

ACORN gets charged with RICO laws & gets dismanted & defunded.

Lots more needs to happen, but the governors need to go after each state & do it by Nov 15 this year.

I agree totally. We need to get back to the basics and get rid of all the new ideas. Voting is not rocket science, no matter how much they try and make it that way.

When Brown’s term as Governor was up, he ran for Senate. The people who knew him best chose not to send him there. That ought to be on a continuous loop on radio and TV for the next 24 hours.

Well it makes no sense to me to support Whitman and not Fiorina unless you are correct, I wish we’d get rid of social issues, they are destroying the country... I honestly think education, showing young girls and women the 3-d ultrasounds of babies in the womb would have the greatest positive impact on abortion than anything else.

I lived through Brown as Governor..... for the life of me I can’t figure out why any self-respecting Republican would vote for him (or Boxer). I am not a fan of Whitman, but she is heads above Brown, and Fiorina has actually grown on me the last few months.

That is what brown has been doing his whole (long) adult life, bouncing from one public gig to another. he ran for senate, for president, served as oakland mayor, atty general, all gov cush gigs. That lowlife has never had a public sector job, now has run the full course, and is back to governor again.
