US 9TH REP. STEVE COHEN: GEORGE WASHINGTON & THOMAS JEFFERSON WERE CAREER POLITICIANS
wreg ^ | 10/30/10 | N/A

Posted on 10/31/2010 11:28:59 AM PDT by GailA

Steve Cohen, who greeted voters at a Democratic event several blocks away in Midtown, said that he had in fact been a part of historic bills to give people tax breaks, not tax hikes.

"We voted on the largest tax breaks in United States history in the 111th Congress. In fact, the stimulus bill was 40 percent tax breaks. There have been more tax breaks for 95 percent of the citizens of the middle class," Cohen said.

Cohen is not knocking on doors this weekend, but is still passing out his signature buttons that he said he likes to collect.

He said that it is in fact a difficult year for some of his Democratic colleagues, but that he is not nervous himself. He remains unfazed by some demands to remove people who seem to be Washington insiders.

"We know how Washington works; we're effective at making it work. That's been my life. Some people say we don't need anymore career politicians, but Thomas Jefferson was a career politician and so was George Washington," Cohen said.

This is par for the course. They do not understand the Founders, they do not understand the US Constitution, etc...

They always say the exact opposite of the truth.

Like Brokaw today trying to say the Internet is 100% lies...when actually it is Brokaw and the activist journalists are the one that spin the lies...the Internet just happens to be an accessible medium that the scumbags can control.

Our country is in seriously deep trouble...if they don’t wake up soon...the 2012 election will no be peaceful.

Since Cohen is a Democrat, saying he is an idiot may be redundant.

You can argue that Jefferson was a career politician, but Washington certainly was not. He never campaigned for a single position he held and spent more time farming and in battle than in politics.

I know Jim, which is why I’m working OT to oust him. This is not the first time he has opened his mouth and inserted his ignorance.

Find me men (or women) the equals of Washington or Jefferson and I'll let them stay as long as they want. Instead we now have a flood of Aaron Burrs and Benedict Arnolds.

Utterly delusional, and easily debunked. Washington had to be cajoled at length to become the president.

Wait . . . that district went 77% for Obama two years ago? Then it’d be hilarious if this moonbat Cohen got voted out this week.

Some people say we don't need anymore career politicians, but Thomas Jefferson was a career politician and so was George Washington," Cohen said.

"Congressman, I served with George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. I knew George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were friends of mine. Congressman, you're no George Washington or Thomas Jefferson."

That is more accurate. This Socialist Listed POS wouldn’t know what a Patriot was if it bite him on his socialist fanny. That was the biggest piece of BS on tax cuts I’ve ever read.

Go leave a comment...and a history lesson

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible."… Pres George Washington

"I own I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive." -- Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 12/20/1787

And what say you Steve Cohen?

As Vice President, Aaron Burr served as Chairman of the Senate with great distinction. He was responsible for some of the early rules that governed that body, and in a time when political hatreds ran high, he ensured a comity that has rarely every been aproached again. His departure address to the Senate is known as one of the great speeches ever given in that institution. Frankly, these days we could do with a few more Aaron Burrs, a man whose honesty was legion.
