....better to ask how many “free rides and who paid for what?”
for both gatherings
Stewart said the crowd was between 200,000 and 10,000,000.
....sounds like the amount of beck supports on one train that they paid for with their own money
The only turn out I’m interested in will be tomorrow’s.
As of yesterday, the ridership statistics for the DC Metro on 10-30 were not available... when they become available, compare them with the stats from 8-28.
They were UP >250k from the previous year at Beck’s rally.
I understand CBS’s agenda... but, I don’t get why a private company would purposefully misrepresent crowd figures... I guess, it gurantees they’ll keep getting business from CBS. But, they’ll end up with ZERO credibility.
Stop wasting your time; the only count that matters is tomorrow.
It’s not the count that counts, but the class of people. The rally looked like a freak show, as well as most of the entertainment. Cat Stevens, for God’s sake!
Who cares? What percentage of Stewart’s crowd are even likely voters? You are comparing engaged citizens to a crowd going to see a comedy act.
By the way. How are they getting photos? The airspace in that area is closed to all traffic except Marine 1. If POTUS is NOT on board even Marine 1 will be shot down if it varies even a small amount from the designated flight path.
The media spin is irritating but not worth your time to argue about.
The Stewart rally kept thousands of losers off the streets for a Saturday before election, and is generally conceded to have been a bomb.
ANybody seen photos of the trash from the Stewart rally? I assume it was like all the past Lefty rallies - a pig sty.
Peter from Rutland, this whole ‘argument’ is a complete waste of both your and our time. This was always going to be spun. Beck’s rally was about restoring faith and was non-political. Stewart/Colbert’s rally was about publicity for their pathetic shows and was sponsored by far-left liberal organizations. Don’t lose sleep over this and don’t waste your time trying to argue with someone whose probably already made up their own mind. The biggest statement that can and will be made is with our votes tomorrow.
As of Wednesday morning, it won’t really matter.
Not many people harping on this anymore... but, I have a affinity for facts.
The DC Metro rider data is in..and, the count on the day of Stewart’s rally set an all-time Saturday record... more than 845,000 rider... That’s about 500,000 more than the same Saturday the previous year.
On the day of the Beck rally, the total was ~ 550,000... which was 250k or so more than the previous year.
This isn’t everything... as more locals might have been inclined to attend, vs people from outside DC at the Beck rally. But, clearly.. there were a crap-load of people at Stewart’ rally.
I’d guess... the two events were close to the same.
