Eugene Robinson: Hard To Argue Obama Ire Not Based On Race (It's starting already?)
Investor's Business Daily ^ | November 1, 2010 | Eugene Robinson

Posted on 11/01/2010 4:15:09 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The first African-American president takes office, and almost immediately we see the birth of a big, passionate national movement — overwhelmingly white and lavishly funded — that tries its best to delegitimize that president, seeks to thwart his every initiative and manages to bring the discredited and moribund opposition party roaring back to life. Coincidence?

Not a chance. But also not that simple.

First, I'll state the obvious: It's not racist to criticize President Obama, it's not racist to have conservative views, and it's not racist to join the Tea Party. But there's something about the nature and tone of the most vitriolic attacks on the president that I believe is distinctive — and difficult to explain without asking whether race is playing a role.

One thing that struck me from the beginning about the Tea Party rhetoric is the idea of reclaiming something that has been taken away.

At a recent campaign rally in Paducah, Ky., Senate candidate Rand Paul, a darling of the Tea Party movement, drew thunderous applause when he said that if Republicans win, "we get to go to Washington and take back our government." Take it back from whom? Maybe he thinks it goes without saying, because he didn't say.

On Sunday, in a last-minute fundraising appeal, Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee implored his supporters to help "return American government to the American people." Again, who's in possession of the government right now, if not the American people? The non-American people? The un-American people?

There's an obvious answer, but it's one that generally comes from the progressive end of the political spectrum: Americans must fight to take back their government from the lobbyists and big-money special interests that shape our laws to suit their own interests, not for the good of the nation...

Funny defense for a President who has based his life and policies on Black-1st. Look at the Justice Department today.

Every one of these idiots should be forced to stand there and recite “I was really, really wrong about the Tea Party, I waqs a flaming idiot” for their very own half-hour special when this admin is rebuked 24 hours from now.

Robinson is a small man with narrow and restricted views. I once thought him readable but...

What is distinctive is race hustling as usual from Eugene Robinson. Obama sucks. His policies suck. His administration sucks and, Eugene, you also suck.

Mr. Robinson is in a state of denial, or maybe a state of confusion?

And no Mr. Robinson, it's not a river in Egypt, nor one of 0bama's 57 states.

May I address Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post? Thank you.

Eugene, the man we elected as president two years ago had absolutely nothing to do with American race relations. His mother was a white left wing gadabout and his father a black African Communist. He more closely resembles president Mugabe of Zimbabwe than Dr. Martin Luther King, and his policies would result in the same destruction of wealth.

Eugene, get over getting along with race. Act like the privileged American you are. Be thankful for the opportunities that elevated you, a black American, and me, a white American. You can only suck the race teat a limited amount of time, and that time is about to expire.

Hey Eugene,

It's not racist... Ask the bond holders of GM & Chrysler if they want to "reclaim" something. Obama and his regime did exactly what Castro and Mugabe did. Taking peoples' property and giving it to their cronies.

You leftists love to proclaim your love of "choice." Well, you do like choice, as long as the choices are those that YOU and your regime give the people. You HATE people who want to be independent of the government, and you divide the people into your allies and enemies.

And I guess Eugene feels the same about Obama's enemies.

Regardless, many a white person and even a hard core country redneck, like a mother-in law I stay away from, voted for Zero because she wanted the handouts he promised.

Racist my fanny. He did zip and; even she woke up.

It’s about ideaology dope (Eugene Robinson). How did some of these same people vote for him two years ago? Was he a different color back then?

As a postscript let me add; On some day let’s intern Jesse Jackson with that other South Carolina racial icon, Strom Thurman, in the same urn.

I was shouted down in an early voting polling place as a racist for protesting the vote of a black woman who got in line after the 7PM deadline. Two years ago that would have brought me to tears. Today it is shrugged off.

I think that the largest majority of Americans could care less about color. But we are certainly past making allowances for it too. And that seems to be where this writer finds his beef. Too flipping bad, true conservative who happen to be black are coming out of the woodwork and tea party members are supporting them like crazy.

We have been called racist far too many times for it to retain it’s sting. Go tell your president (he is not mine) to stick his finger into the wind and check the direction.

Classic projection. Robinson views everything through the lens of race and therefore cannot conceive that the majority of us do not.
