Bennett 48%, Buck 47% (Buck proving to be the only Repub. in CO who could possibly lose this race)
CNN.com ^ | 11-3-10 | CNN

88% reporting, Buck down 7000 votes.

Looks like Hinsdale and Chafee counties aren't counted? Could use CO Freeper update.....

Tancredo losing by double-digits now. Looks like CO is officially blue for good.

Ken Buck was said to be the only GOP candidate who could lose this race, which would have been a GOP blowout with Norton on the ticket. Looks like that prediction was prophetic.

Maybe he'll blame those stupid Tea Partiers and Sarah Palin and those retarded Birthers........again........

Unreal how back some of these candidates have proven to be, like Ken Buck.

“Meanwhile, we lost winnable SIX-YEAR Senate seat after winnable SIX-YEAR Senate seat.

I’m done. I don’t care if I’m the only person FR who changes, but I’m done with the 100% purity crap. No more. I’m going with the Buckley rule, period. If that means I have to actively work against a Ken Buck in the primary, so be it.”

I agree with that too....Lets keep it mind come the presidential primaries.
Sarah Palin is a great gal and conservative...But she has no shot, none, zero, nada as the nominee to win the presidency.

You guys are correct. It was a historic night. Just hard to see Colorado get left behind as far as the Governor’s race, Senate, and the 7th congressional seat.

Liberalism is disease that’s killing the Republic. Now, we have an additional killer,
progressiveism.

The whole “Norton is a Washington insider” meme who was not conservative enough (RINO) was a total lie by the Buck campaign and Red State.

IMO, "RINO" is the operative word in that sentence. It's a really effective epithet, because it has no actual meaning -- nobody seems to be able to say what defines a true Republican.

But "RINO" is used like an axe by "conservatives" who feel that a certain person is not pure enough to be supported. "Pure," used in a context where there is no clear idea of what "pure" really means.

The Tea Party movement has a lot to answer for, in three states in particular: Colorado, Delaware, and Nevada.

Yea, verily, the Tea Party tossed the RINOs out in those states.

And those three states, with their Tea Party candidates losing winnable races, are the difference between minority and majority status in the Senate.

That is a huge failure.

Buck still up in the air. Ahead by 5000 per Boyles a few minutes ago. Too close to rule out fraud.

Yes. Colorado hurts. I’m still gobsmacked that the GOP took over both houses in Minnesota. I never thought I’d see that in my lifetime. Hopefully the red wave will wash further west in 2012.

Beck yesterday recommended a book written by the dems regarding the blueprint of what structures they put into place to make Colorado a blue state and are and have been touting the book as the blue print of what to do in the other states. Forgive me, I do not know the title, but perhaps another Freeper could supply it. It sounded like a very important read.

Glad to see you’ve finally grown up, so welcome to adult land! I’ve written repeatedly about the importance of electability, and not just being “conservative”. I was just commenting to my wife that the naive and starry eyed liberals get bad candidates like Obama who get elected, but the naive starry eyed Tea Partiers get bad candidates who don’t get elected.

Conservatives who have done well like Scott Brown, Marco Rubio, and my own newly elected Cory Gardner here in CO-4 on the eastern plains of Colorado first paid their dues in the state legislatures. It gave them time to mature as candidates, learn the ropes, and making their big mistakes in small pondsn first. It’s truly a matter of going to college before going to graduate school.

I admire and appreciate the enthusiasm and energy of the Tea Partiers, but this purity nonsense is totally self-destructive. It is simply not possible for a candidate to perfectly represent exactly ALL of the positions of more than a very few voters, maybe none, actually. Therefore, in addition to electability, it is necessary to agree upon a small number of core issues amongst the support group. Over hundreds of years (not just in the U.S. mind you) political parties formed to formalize this process to avoid the bloody self-destruction that results from a no-rules, no-holds-barred hand-to-hand combat over “purity”.

Personally, I simplified this election to a single issue, namely, were you staunchly opposed to the Obama agenda, were you electable, and would you follow through on your word to repeal Obammunism. Nothing else mattered to me on any other issues! Nothing that the candidate did or said before mattered to me. This greatly focused my thought processes and made my decisions easy about who to support with my energy and money.

In NJ many referred to Christie as a RINO. He is now a star and a role model for how to win- and to save the nation. "RINO'S" like Christie and Rudy have cross-over appeal. Some RINO's like the twins are better than rats, admittedly not by much. We had a great Senator in Santorum -but he lost! Rubio, Paul, Toomey, McMahon would have al lost in Delaware. I am old enough to remember Jeff Bell defeating "RINO" Clifford CASE IN THE PRIMARY ONLY TO BE CRUSHED BY BILL BRADLEY. I still believe in the Buckley rule. btw his brother couldn't win in NY or Conn

Congrats to MN. Even more reason for me to cry about CO. MN, home of Al Franken goes red and CO, that used to be red, keeps is getting bluer. I think Repubs did take our House here. Gotta start looking at the glass differently I guess. Overall the country had some great wins last night. Just wanted things to play out differently here and for some of the more notable races like Reid, Boxer, Murkowski, etc.

While I am leaning more pragmatic now, I have my limits.

Like most Freepers, for example, I would burn the party down before supporting ORomneyCare for president.

But I intend to go with the Buckley rule in these Senate races from now on. No more Bucks when a Norton can win. Senate seats are too valuable, period.

We can still take the Senate in 2012 if we can get the right candidates. I really wish Mark Racicot would run against Tester in MT.

RINO’s are liberal republicans... So now you know. : -) Something tells me you already “knew” this but are just spreading liberal talking points... I saw these same thoughts on Daily Kos.

Remember all the great RINO ideas like Medicare Part D, and No Child Left behind, the list goes on and on. These liberal/RINO bills helped lose the Republican majority in the first place.

A divided congress is a beautiful outcome in many ways. Obama can't triangulate and win reelection by blaming Congress. He's going to have to move much further toward the Conservatives now.

I live in the inner ring of Jeffco (just a few blocks from Denver). I have seen this area deteriorate in the last 20 years. It’s a shame.

And, frankly the Jeffco Republicans have got to oust all the ladies who like to socialize from the committee positions and get in some workers. Our precinct people have been in forever (and continue to win because they have been in forever), but don’t do the job necessary to win. I never received one call from my precinct committeeperson reminding me to vote for republicans or doing a literature drop or anything. As of 5 pm yesterday, when I voted, 80 people had voted in a conservative precinct. That is a crime.

Ah, I see.

So if you can tell me that somebody is a RINO, you must also be able to tell me what defines a true Republican.

I won't hold my breath waiting for your answer.
