The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to Mumbai.

"The huge amount of around $ 200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments. frpa

Just the security to protect the Messiah in India with the teaming masses of people. If I remember right. Pakistan is not friendly with India. So Obama is at risk for setting off a FIRE STORM of hate in the the Middle East or India. That is a potentially scary situation.

Maybe he is going to India to tell them
to surrender to the Pakistan Gov. Everybody knows he would sacrifice the folks in India for Pakistan.

Barry and Wookie are spending it, not the U.S. The U.S. is bankrolling it.

By my count, that would be about $160 billion for him to stay for the rest of his term. For simplicity, I estimate there are 100 million taxpayers in the US. So, $1,600 each to be rid of him.

I’m in.

India is now an important customer of US made goods (mostly weapons) and a mjaor trading partner.

I’m not happy about the cost, but the visit is just fine - how many billions have we pi$$ed away on the Pakis??? And what do we have to show for it - even less.

Any list of these CEOs who are going on our dime?

No doubt the ones who gave generously to the DNC.

They will buy our weapons without us doing this. All we are showing is how arrogant and wasteful we can be. It is funny that it is the left and Obama who always complain about America's arrogance, but they are the ones doing crap like this. I am sick of it.

Going forward, every little dollar in government spending has to be accounted for. Federal budgets have to be slashed and we should fire twice as many federal workers as England did. (they just fired 500,000)

Even given the love for showmanship as practiced by most (not all) in India - it is a bit over the top.

But then many will say Emperor Obama 'deservces' this - why, dunno, but some are cool with the ontentaious display. Not me

As for the Brits. Those layoffs will come over the next two years. It's a start.

As for 'firing all the damn Govt employees' meme - just remeber that next time you stand in line for 4 hours at the DMV.... cutting where needed and possible, yes - wholesale cuts, maybe not so much.

DMV is local government. Other than our military, we only need about 5,000 federal workers.... if that many.

Think of the federal cost savings!

How much did it cost when Bush traveled?

On drudge, is says he’s taking 35 warships. Is this normal? I can’t imagine this being normal.
