After electoral drubbing,Dems must now deal with ethics trials(Then House impeaches Obama, please?)

Fresh from a stinging midterm election defeat, House Democrats must quickly face another embarrassing spectacle: public trials for two of their most prominent members.

Reps. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), two senior House veterans, have opted to fight the separate ethics charges in public ethics trials set to take place later this month and extend into the first week of December.

Drawing criticism from Republicans, House ethics chairwoman Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) last month announced the trials would occur after the elections. Rangel’s will commence Nov. 15 and the Waters trial will start Nov. 29.

To make matters worse for a party still reeling from their losses, Rangel, who is known for his colorful and rambling speeches, could decide to represent himself at the hearing. The Rangel’s trial would undoubtedly attract a lot of attention from the cable news shows.

“It’s like we’re kicking ourselves in the stomach when we’re already down,” one House Democratic staffer griped. “I’m not looking forward to it.”

Rangel and his attorney, Leslie Berger Kiernan, and her legal team parted ways in October, leaving little time before the Nov. 15 trial for another lawyer to take the case and prepare.

Neutering Obama now by impeachment is strongly recommended.

And what would be the point of impeaching 0bama? He'd be acquitted in any Senate trial because the GOP does not have the 67 votes needed to convict him. On top of that, we all saw what impeachment did to Clinton, it made him more popular, and did nothing to stop him from acting in the role of President.

I'd rather the GOP get right to work rolling back or defunding everything 0bama put into place instead.

There will be no impeachment nor would it help should there be one since the Senate will never convict so it would be a wasted effort.

However, having Urkle in office will only help the GOP as he flounders about and embarrasses the RATs.

Much as it would be good political theatre, impeachment would waste a lot of money for no gain. There is no chance of a conviction in the Senate and the very act of impeachment might rile the Democratic base to show up for the 2012 elections.

I think the hearings should be postponed until after the new Congress takes over in January. That would hardly be showing mercy, because it would deprive them of a jury of their peers presided over by one of their own. Let the new Congress drain the swamp.

You will need a high crime or misdemeanor first. Being an ID10T doesn’t count.

Shoot no. We are going to flog the Democrats with him in 2012.

before these professional politicans start impeachment proceedings against fubo, with a senate that will never approve, why not start with those that are disregarding their oath of office? why not eliminate, or at least bring into the public light, those that flagrantly violate the law of the land and do their own bidding? I am speaking, of course, of federal judges. Hell, the 9th circus alone has 6 justices that easily have violated their oath of office, along with at least 2 supreme court justices. Stop wasting goddamn time on idiotic crap that does not stand a chance in hell of happening. Start impeaching judges, now......but alas, this will not happen, because democrats and republicans both want the same thing....socialism...the only difference is the speed at which we arrive there...

Impeachment is great, but it must be accompanied by "REMOVAL". For that, it looks like we'll need some dims to vote with us in The Senate.

Of course, if it can be shown that he was never qualified and has been usurping the office all along, then it is a whole new ballgame.

I agree that impeaching Obama would probably backfire on the Republicans. However, holding his feet to the fire and making him be accountable and “transparent” on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE will frustrate him enough to resign.

Really, there’s nothing to be gained by impeachment except martyrdom for 0bamadinijad.

But... there can be some investigations into SSN theft/misuse, and perhaps some subpoenas having to do with the citizenship he used to get scholarships, etc.

Can't happen without control of the Senate. We've got a solid position in the House. That means we can monitor future spending and investigate abuses of power. Those are the tools we have and I advocate using them to their utmost. Next election we can gain the Senate and, very likely, the Executive office. Then we can repeal the garbage they've passed. Until then, keep the socialists and communists on a hot bed of legal coals to keep them busy and out of further mischief.

We can’t impeach sitting Presidents any old time we feel like it. The last time we had impeachment proceedings, the Democrats won big.

Actually opening up a true investigation of the cause of the housing collapse, with Dodd and Fwank right up front, would be a great idea. The truth needs to be told.

I agree. I will view any mercy on government crooks as a violation of Tea Party principles.

So we want to handicap the 2012 election for the Republicans.

The House Impeached Bill Clinton so what happened. We spent tons and tons of Money, Rescources, and Time what did we gain.

I thought we sent them to Washington to Cut Spending and reduce the downward pressure on job creations.

We Fired a large percentage of the crooks and pervs last night. We do this right we can get more of them in 2012. Or we tie everything up in trials and impeachments and the dems send us back home in 2012
