San Francisco bans Happy Meals
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 2, 2010 | Sharon Bernstein

San Francisco's board of supervisors has voted, by a veto-proof margin, to ban most of McDonald's Happy Meals as they are now served in the restaurants.

The measure will make San Francisco the first major city in the country to forbid restaurants from offering a free toy with meals that contain more than set levels of calories, sugar and fat.

The ordinance would also require restaurants to provide fruits and vegetables with all meals for children that come with toys.

"We're part of a movement that is moving forward an agenda of food justice," said Supervisor Eric Mar, who sponsored the measure. "From San Francisco to New York City, the epidemic of childhood obesity in this country is making our kids sick, particularly kids from low income neighborhoods, at an alarming rate. It's a survival issue and a day-to-day issue."

A thought just hit me, if they want to "forbid restaurants from offering a free toy...", I would just turn it around on them, and advertise that I was, in fact, just selling the toy, and throwing in a free burger and fries....

Well, it's a little funny....

McD’s in San Fran should start offering their little toys separately for 10 cents. That should solve the problem.

“Food justice”

Clearly from the Saul Alinsky playbook.

...The tenth rule of the ethics of means and ends states “that you do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral arguments ... Moral rationalization is indispensable at all times of action whether to justify the selection or the use of ends or means.”

“San Francisco bans Happy Meals”

The idea of what constitutes a “Happy Meal” in San Francisco gives me a slight case of the dry heaves.

See also “environmental justice” and “social justice.” Food justice means calorie equity (no fat Americans) and fairness. (Fairness= no freedom of choices if the elite feel the choice is bad and outside of accepted group norms for an accptable sugar, fat, non-organic and meat free diet. There is even more angst if poor choice is incentivized under free market principles.) Sad day when the word “justice” gets redefined to incorporate tenets of socialism

Continuing along with this mindset, Cracker Jacks will have to be banned, along with all cereals that feature a cartoon character on the box (Lucky Charms, Cap'n Crunch, etc).

Yet, if McDonalds started selling penis-relica frankfurters made out of tofu, the San Fran City Council would be rushing to pass a law forcing them down people’s throats (so to speak)...

San Fran is going down the financial crapper and crime is on the rise, but they’re working on this?????

Like to say I am surprised.

"From San Francisco to New York City, the epidemic of childhood obesity in this country is making our kids sick, particularly kids from low income neighborhoods, at an alarming rate. It's a survival issue and a day-to-day issue."

Heaven knows the problem couldn't possibly be the result of families of 3, 4, or 5 people living in 1000 sq ft or less in an ocean of concrete with the only outdoor recreational area being a drug and gang ridden rundown city park.

The problem must be McDonald's.....

Homosexuals are, first and foremost, anal control-freaks.

By "control" you probably don't mean self control. Because the twinks continually demonstrate their lack of "anal control." Otherwise HIV would have no place to hide.

I suggest we conservatives start a “food liberty” movement. I want the freedom to eat what I want, when I want it, and how much I want. And I have no plans to have anyone take that from me.

Homosexuals are, first and foremost, anal control-freaks. They want us to leave them alone, but they have no intention of leaving us alone.

It's not just the homosexuals - it's ALL liberals. They're creepy little control freaks...
