Alaskan official: Write-in votes for Joe Miller won’t count

In another boon for Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, write-in ballots cast for Republican candidate Joe Miller won’t count toward his total vote count. Alaska’s Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell, who oversees elections, told the Associated Press that write-in ballots for Miller will be tossed out.

Is that position really tenable when Murkowski's getting "an intent of the voter" allowance? I could see this turning into something very, very ugly

Then let it get ugly. Joe Miller can't ask for the law to be overlooked for himself and then go to court because "Lisa M." or some other permutation was allowed.

The LAW reads that the candidate's name must be spelled correctly and the oval next to it marked. The the Alaska Supremes may think otherwise but the Florida Supremes tried to change the law in the middle of the game in the 2000 Presidential election ... and the SCOTUS slapped that down 9-0.

The American Ruling Class controls both parties. There is absolutely no doubt about it after this Alaska voting scandal. Clearly, the lady is corrupt and deserves a prison sentence.

I would be interested to know for sure if Joe was or was not on the write in list? I hear a lot of people saying they KNOW he was not on it? Are they from Alaska or are they just being loudmouths? I have no idea.

I heard his name was on the list, no I am not from Alaska, and I betcha the folks here that are saying they know this and know that, are not EITHER.

I would like to make a motion that Lisa the Cow be disqualified because she was beaten fair and square in the primary.

Perhaps some of the villagers were told they had to right in Joe`s name? Shenanigans!?

Right, and if someone for whatever reason wrote in Joe Miller, it should count.

If it does not then this voter intent crap should be thrown out, and instead ask only for perfect spelling.

Linky Thing: See Post 30 in this thread ... Official Alaska Site List

Joe Miller is listed as a candidate - but NOT as a write-in candidate.

"am heartsick to learn that Alaska, in spite of its isolation, has sucumbed to the virulent disease of American corruption!"

Honey, we've had such corrupt government up here for so long nobody expects anything different. From the first time that Alaskan Democrats (Carpetbaggers) found out that an (R) after a name got the candidate elected, they have all used the tactic. It SAYS "Republican" but it votes Democrat.

Ignorance of the law isn’t an excuse. I have no idea if any did but it wouldn’t surprise me if someone did for whatever the reason they may have had.

41% of Alaska ballots were write-in votes for Senate.

Might as well stop counting right now.

They haven’t started counting and won’t until Nov. 18th.

So they better not count any votes for Murkowski unless they specifically state: Senator List Murkowski.

Let's see, checking the list here... I'm sorry sir but I;m afraid there is no List Murkowski on it. I'm afraid your vote won't count.

B.S. - how can they know if it’s the same Joe Miller? It’s a far more common name than Joe Bftlpsk, or something.

I don’t think the guy is saying there ARE ballots with Joe’s name written on them...he’s just stating that IF there are , they won’t count.

was there an actual list handed out by the state?....because if they did, which to my knowledge they’ve never done before, only for the Cow, than the state deliberately set up the voters to be disenfranchised...

If I am not mistaken, it was clearly stated in advance that any reasonable representation of Murkowski’s name would count. As to the guy on the ballot, why was he listing himself as a write-in? I understand that many people signed up as write-in’s to make it more difficult for Murkowski. Perhaps what they succeeded in doing was taking votes away from Miller. All’s fair in love and politics?
