Colo. Democrat Bennet wins Senate race

Sen. Michael Bennet has narrowly defeated tea party Republican Ken Buck to win a hard-fought Senate seat in Colorado.

The victory for Bennet allows Democrats to hold onto a seat once viewed a prime opportunity for the GOP to make gains.

Bennet provided a crucial firewall against further Republican gains in the Senate during midterm elections. The race attracted more out-of-state campaign money than any other Senate contest this year.

In a victory speech, Bennet called it a "race for the record books."

“No one but AP has called this. I think a recount is coming. No need to bail yet Buck.”

Buck hasn’t conceded.

We lost this one because of the Gov race - That we had no one of qualit to run at Gov level in the que going into 2010 killed us.....Buck loses this by this small a margin, with even a decent “R” running as Gov we take this one easy...

“The Colorado GOP is about as competent as Laurel and Hardy.”

Hey now. Laurel and Hardy are funny. The Colorado GOP, not so much.

This entire article is a lie... the votes have not been counted and there is a recount after they are counted.

In the late 1960’s on Californians moved to CO, OR, WA, UT, NV in droves and brought their CA ideas with them. That is what is wrong with most of the West. Please Jim move Freerepublic out of the G*D forsaken state(CA).

The Senate races were truly disappointing.
Buck lost because he went off script from the economy and opined on social issues. Social issues drag conservatives down every time they’re brought up in in statewide races in the west. Fiscal conservatism wins every time, in every state outside of New England.

The one valuable lesson we learned from this election is that Tea Party ideals win, but the Tea Party label loses.

This is what we need to take with us going in to 2012.
Candidates who ran on the Tea Party message, but had mainstream appeal won, and won big. Rubio, Johnson, and Ayotte are perfect examples. Candidates who were too closely tied to the Tea Party directly lost. Angle, O’Donnell, Buck, and Miller.

While the Tea Party ideals inspired a majority, the Tea Party label energized Democrat turnout in the high profile races, and was able to create doubt in the minds of enough undecided voters to break against Tea Party candidates.

SO, why not make it a liberal recreation haven? Not me buddy I live here. You go ski Nebraska. Yes, the Colorado GOP and Bill Owens RINO club have way too much power and THEY blew it. Believe me, the sleeping giant is awakened.

People came out to vote against Tancredo and not just for the dem. Same thing happened in NY with Paladino and in DE to take out Castle’s old seat.
