"Obama Agenda For "Change" Delivered Strong Slap To The Face" (From Japan) My Translation
Hokkaido Shimbun, Japan (Original in Japanese, "FReepranslated" ^ | 4 November 2010 | Hokkaido Shimbun (Daily), from Japan

Japanese news today over here (newspapers above the fold, magazines, non-stop TV networks) are filled to the brim with news of Mr. Obama's humiliating defeat at the hands of the Republicans.

Many of this is bringing Japanese up to speed as to how unpopular Mr. Obama really is, as for the last two years by and large they perpetuated the image of him being successful and popular (mostly in order to sell books and English instruction tapes using his speeches). What a rude awakening.

Well, my favorite title is from this morning's Hokkaido Shimbun:

Essentially: "Obama Agenda For "Change" Delivered Strong Slap To The Face" Here is the LINK to the original Japanese article.

What is it with Japanesa adoration of cartoonlike images? For example, even adults think find funny small childlike drawn images reminiscent of kewpie dolls. Little Kitty is one. Substance seems irrelevant to this audience. What is it that’s so appealing to them about two-dimensional round, blank stare, cutsy, cutsy stick-figures? What’s the point of all the fingering victory signs when Japanese are having their photos taken? Can anyone enlighten us? What’s at the core of the adoration and laugh out loud delight at the repetitious display of one-dimensional human icons? Actually, as I am writing this, I realize that Obama himself is just such a one-dimensional cartoon-like figure. His arrogrant raised chin makes him a king among stick figures. With the “slap in the face to Obama” election, now the Japanese can add Obama to their repertoire of laughable images.

I dont know. That would be for a separate thread. All I know is that 100% of FREE REPUBLIC knew Obama was an incompetent, Marxist empty suit Waaaay before the election, and in some places in the world, they are just now only coming to this conclusion. Japan included. (Although their, the Japanese’ that is, wake up call was with the North Korean missile launches and nuke tests soon after Obongo took over, and Obama slept through the whole damned thing and did nothing).

It is one of my ways of giving back to Free Republic, when short on cash for donations. What I do would go at $50 to $70 an hour, maybe...but for Free Republic always for gratis and to get the word out to the wider world, not to mention keep my J to E skills intact, it is my pleasure and I am more than happy to do it. ;-)

Lol! Well, son is taking Japanese language classes and I watch enough animes to pick up a word or two.

I can also call you an idiot in Japanese if the occasion ever arises, so be careful. ;)
