In Connecticut, Confusion, Drama and No Governor (Fair Summary)
NYT ^ | 11-4-10 | Chen

Posted on 11/04/2010 1:06:24 PM PDT by VinL

Thursday was the first full day of work for the transition team of Dannel P. Malloy, the Democratic who is certain he was the winner in the Connecticut governor’s race. It was also the first full day of work for the transition team of Thomas C. Foley, the Republican candidate, who claimed victory in the same race. Clearly, one of these men is going to be terribly disappointed. But when and how that will become clear is still, well, unclear....

Sometime on Thursday, the state’s top election official, Susan Bysiewicz, the Democratic secretary of state, is supposed to announce the final, official vote. But adding to the confusion a news conference that was originally scheduled for noon kept getting pushed back.

Even the location of the news conference — somewhere in Hartford — is up in the air, because more reporters might show up now that Connecticut has found itself in an unflattering national glare. Then, at 3 p.m, reporters waiting outside Ms. Bysiewicz's office got word that there may not be an announcement today, after all, because the totals from — where else? — Bridgeport were not yet finalized.

Foley camp states that Bridgeport revised Downward the Malloy vote by 3500-- If true, that's huge.

Reports are noting that once the decision was made to extend voting hours in Bridgeport, the reverse-911 system was used to notify select areas of Bridgeport that the polls were still open.

In addition to using an emergency system for a non-life threatening situation (a violation of state law, which is now under investigation), there is a clear violation of equal notification.

The NYTimes article doesn’t mention the Dems’ use of reverse 911:

They may not be laying down-—This from the Westport News-
On Wednesday both Malloy and Foley declined to answer questions from reporters on whether they were gathering legal teams, but Republican State Central Committee Chairman Chris Healy is challenging the use of photocopied ballots in Bridgeport with the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

In Bridgeport, for much of Wednesday Trumbull First Selectman Timothy Herbst and a battery of lawyers met with Bridgeport’s outgoing Republican Registrar of Voters Joseph Borges to explore if there were voting irregularities to form the basis of a lawsuit.

“I can’t believe what I’m seeing,” Herbst, who is working for the Foley campaign, said Wednesday night. “It’s nearly 24 hours after the polls close and we still can’t get a number of the votes cast compared against the number of voters checked off on the tally sheets.”

Sources said Kevin O’Connor, Connecticut’s former U.S. attorney now working as a lawyer with a firm run by former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, has been contacted to look into the allegations, some of which include absentee ballot application irregularities; whether voters were allowed to cast ballots at polls where they are not registered; and whether ballots were cast by people whose names were not properly checked off.

Healy on Oct. 20 filed a complaint alleging that two individuals obtained and distributed more than 250 applications for absentee ballots listing a vacant lot on North Avenue as their address.

Foley’s team apparently is examining vote tallies in other towns as well. A representative from his campaign was in the Fairfield Town Clerk’s office Thursday morning going over the election numbers with Town Clerk Betsy Browne...

"the Democratic secretary of state"

This one is over, folks, as with the SOS/Soros setup, the Dem ALWAYS wins.

The extra-hours allowed bussed in Dem's from NY to get to the polls to assure they had enough votes to win in CT.

The SOS project has paid big dividends for the Marxists. The National RINO’s are clueless on how to oppose dedicated Socialists.

Check this out- just reported:

“Foley says his staff is finding problems in towns besides Bridgeport, where polling stations ran out of ballots on Election Day. “Today, the town of Torrington changed over 2,000 votes in my favor,” he notes.”

That from NRO—

The key character in this drama is Bysiewicz, the 'Rat SOS who was placed into office as part of the Soros project. Instead of being a neutral administrator of elections, as her job traditionally calls for, she shows by everything she says and does that she is nothing but a party apparatchik, abusing her power to get Democrats electoral victories. She had a history of this before the current election. But here she (1) keeps polls open in a 'Rat district to get more 'Rat votes counted and (2) holds an official press conference to announce an "unofficial" vote total with the 'Rat candidate the apparent victor.

She is a lawless cancer on the American tradition of fair and free elections! A real Alinsyite nut job!

BTW, the NY Times writer Chen did a surprisingly objective job on the posted story. Most MSM reports on this have failed to identify Bysiewicz as a Democrat.

In addition to using an emergency system for a non-life threatening situation..., there is a clear violation of equal notification.

And wouldn't there be a stature prohibiting local government phones from being used for get-out-the-vote purposes?

The Secretary of State should be muzzled until the election litigation is complete.

The governor (who currently is a Republican) should arrest her and throw her in jail. Bitesmy_ss is a public nuisance.

they claim only 500 people voted after 8, but i think thats a smokescreen. the real reason for keeping open until 10 was so they could figure out how many votes they needed. the reason they ran out of ballots was intentional. they only had 21000 ballots when 40000 were cast last time. this was done on purpose to create the need to stay open late. period. this was payback for having Obama come to town just two days before to stump.
