Speaker Nancy Pelosi's aim to remain the leader of House Democrats is an indication the party is ready to go to war with Republicans in the next Congress, not cut deals across the aisle.
The California Democrat is a radioactive figure in many districts across the country, where Republicans parlayed her unpopularity to pick up seats in Tuesday's landslide elections. But she's also a master at energizing the Democratic base, and her liberal resolve, some Democrats say, will draw much sharper distinctions between the two parties than that of more conservative members who might otherwise assume the leadership spot.
"The lesson [of the elections] is not to back down from a fight," Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said in a statement. "The lesson learned is we need to fight harder for real, fundamental change for the middle-class. And no one fights harder than Nancy Pelosi."
Put another way: "She's in a better position to throw the bombs back at Republicans," a former House Democratic aide said tersely. "I mean, who's the better person to make John Boehner look crazy? It's Pelosi."
Before Friday's surprise announcement that Pelosi will run for minority leader, Rep. Steny Hoyer, the current No. 2, was widely seen as heir apparent to head the party. The Maryland Democrat is known, in the words of one Democratic strategist, as "a dealmaker, a tactician" — someone who "makes the trains run on time."

Notice how the red areas have grown and the blue areas have shrunk since the last three elections. This is a sea change in American politics as more and more people are seeing the Dems for what they are. The hardcore liberal areas are becoming smaller and smaller islands in a sea of red. The conservatives have to keep educating the American people about the basics. When you talk in the language of common sense the people will respond. RINOS have other agendas and that is what causes the problems in the Republican party. Look at some of the gutsy conservative people that we have now who speak in the language of the people, not like the RINOS who are putting on a mask of conservatism.
Not so long ago Pelosi cursed Rahm for giving her those troublesome blue dogs. Well now they’re gone and the Pelousy can have an easier time of it.
The thought of Clyburn as her second in command is a disgusting thought.

If Hoyer steps down, then Jim Clyburn is next in line. It will be interesting to see the Democrats pass Clyburn up for promotion . . . again. I wonder what the Congressional Black Liberal Caucus members will have to say about that.

Fine by me for her to remain the leader and face of the party - she is one of the least popular public figures and we can continue to use the line in ads saying Democrats “voted with Nancy Pelosi 90% of the time”, etc. Let her continue to be out front and devisive.

But, as you point out, she remains campaign fodder. She can now be the face of "The Party of 'No'" -- and her face will make the claim believable.

They are really transparent afterall, just not the way we wanted.
We have a lot of work to do but we will prevail. The TP citizens have shown the world it can be done but it won’t matter unless something is done about the voting process. The left are like the ‘other enemy’ in that they learn quickly from mistakes and will use every dirty trick in the book to get what they want. There can be no compromises with them.
First, I would like the (Rs) to go for a voting system that eliminates all fraud before 2012. Plus make it a felony to screw with the ballots in any way and stick to it! Jail time and heavy fines.
Quit screwing around with what should be our most precious right.
Otherwise elections are a waste of time and money.

Start with ethics investigations and trials into every single one of ‘em you can get a shred of evidence on. And don’t let up until you have pushed six or eight of ‘em out of congress, and jailed at least a couple of ‘em.
American's are strong, because of our Judeo–Christian heritage and our history. We are the greatest country the world has ever seen, thanks to our belief in God. As long as we stay true to our beliefs we will survive this too.
This is madness for Dems - her name is now spot welded into the psyches of all Americans - Pelosi is a tumor that was cut out but is now is recurring in a more hideous fashion. It is a teratoma on the American body politic. Her name will bring millions to spend and vote against the Dems. Why do they hand the Republicans a gift like this? And it keeps giving!
They should deep freeze her, somewhere with Ted Williams, and no one would have to listen to her.
The ugly Left is in control of the Dems. They want to die fighting.
I wonder how long the “fight” will be in her after she makes a couple of trips home and it won’t be on a private Air Force jet.

S Patton was a close neighbor,) Ronald Reagan came here as a Democrat and was converted into the Conservative Gold Standard here served as Governor for 8 years, became a widely successful President, and is buried here in the State he loved, and this forum, where you spout your drivel, is brought to you by Conservative native Californians.....yet you want to dump your human refuse here?
